New Grower, Trying Fox Farms

Hi! Growing my peppers on a balcony in zone 7b with direct sunlight for most of the day.

From some posts, saw that growing peppers in raised planters can lead to flushing out nutrients more quickly so I got some fertilizers (Fox Farm Trio). What cadence do people use them at? Do you follow the schedule on their site?

Note: I’m also using miracle gro potting soil, purchased my plants as sprouts, and they’ve been growing well outside for 5ish weeks.

Aphid Issues

First time grower here! Went to check on my plants today and found a few dozen aphids grouped on some leaves. My peppers are in raised planters and I did my best to scrape off the bottom side of the leaves.

I’ve seen people on this subreddit suggest combinations of:
- dish soap w/ water in a spray bottle
- neem oil
- lady bugs

My main issue is that I’m growing on the porch of my apartment and do not have access to a hose to effectively wash anything applied off. There’s a fair amount of birds out back so I fear ladybugs might get kicked off pretty quick and not stay as a long term solution. Any tips or insights is appreciated!

Pruning Leaves?

Hi, I’m new to growing peppers and grow in zone 7b!
I posted in here about two weeks ago and learned that I missed the hardening step and this little guy was likely sun scalded. I recently got back from a trip and the leaves aren’t looking too great. Should I trim them off or let them be?

First, I’m new to gardening and words can’t describe the amount of pride I felt seeing these little guys sprout up.

I’m growing some heirloom sunflowers in zone 7b and I’m worried the planter is getting crowded. The raised planter is (L x W x H): 31.3 in. x 15.35 in. x 34.65 in with a soil capacity of 18.4 gallons.

How many sunflowers do I need to pull out? How many can I keep? How do you decide which to keep?

Hello! I’m new to gardening as of this year and it’s been wonderful. I live in Zone 7B and my plants are on a balcony that receives direct sunlight most of the day.

I recently bought some pepper sprouts at LOWES and repotted them a little over a week ago. Most of them are doing well but my Madhatter Pepper has some weird whitening on its leaves. I’ve attached pictures from today and last week, a few days after I repotted and the white spots started to appear.

Any insight in what’s happening or how to help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
