2009 Volvo 3.2L S80 Catalytic Question

First pic is manifold cat, you can see the upstream o2 sensor bung. There are 2 of these since its a straight 6 engine. Second pic shows inlets on top, followed by flex pipe, o2 sensor bung and then cats.

I ran over some debris and ruined the flex pipe so I need to change it. I noticed there are 2 sets of catalytic converters (thanks Volvo) and the 2nd set seams redundant. Do i even need the second one at all, especially since the o2 sensors are measuring before (not after) the secondary cats?

Planning to cut out the flex pipes of the new piece onto my OEM so I can maintain the original cats. But if those cats are unnecessary or redundant, I'd honestly rather delete them
