my pre purchase notes on the new spacemate rd1 pro display and charging limits.

i spent the morning digging into the specs of the new baseus spacemate rd1 pro 15 in 1 because i need to upgrade my 3d rendering workstation. i found some unique features that beat the standard docks out there. first, the charging setup is wild. it has a magnetic qi2.2 panel that pulls out and adjusts from 0 to 80 degrees, making it way easier to see my phone than fixed angle chargers. it also uses smart dynamic power allocation to actively balance the 160w output, rather than just a basic mechanical power split. second, for my heavy workloads, they put in graphene cooling materials. my old hubs always overheat and drop connections during renders, so this is a huge plus. lastly, it handles dual 4k 60hz extended screens for windows via mst. sharing this here to help others comparing specs before buying.

Dropping off work calls because of bad apartment Wi-Fi.

I live in a large apartment building and the Wi-Fi channels are completely jammed. My video calls kept freezing right in the middle of client presentations. I grabbed the Baseus Spacemate 11 in 1 a while ago to get a wired connection to my router. It has a network port on the back. Now I just plug an Ethernet cable straight into the vertical hub and my connection is completely stable. It is a huge relief not worrying about freezing on camera. How do you guys deal with terrible Wi-Fi when working from home?

The real work starts after the decision

A meeting ends or a next step gets agreed on, and suddenly there’s this pile of tiny follow-up tasks that still need someone to chase, write, move, or organize.

None of this is hard work exactly. It is just constant little follow-through work, and it piles up fast.

That is the kind of AI help I actually care about now. More like something that can handle the boring middle layer and keep things moving after the decision is already made.

Do you leave the sound machine on all night after baby falls asleep?

We’ve been using momcozy sound machine and it definitely helps our baby fall asleep faster at bedtime. Right now I usually just keep it running after he falls asleep, but I started wondering if people actually leave it on the whole night or turn it off once they’re asleep.

A quick way to get your heavy laptop charger off your dorm desk.

Desk space is incredibly tight in my dorm room. The factory power brick for my laptop took up way too much room. I got the Baseus Spacemate 11 in 1 recently. The trick is to plug your wall charger straight into the dock and hide it. Then you just run one USB C cord to your laptop. It handles your external screen and passes 100W of power at the same time. Really helps clean up a cramped setup.

Hybrid workers how do you handle your desk setup? I finally switched to a one cable dock.

I bring my work laptop home three days a week. I used to hate plugging in the power cord the monitor and the keyboard separately every time I sat down. I picked up the Baseus Spacemate 11 in 1 a month ago and now I just plug in one USB C cable to get everything running. It makes setting up my desk way less annoying. How is everyone else dealing with the constant laptop shuffling? Do you use a hub or just live with the cable mess?

I handle medical data at home and my roommates constantly walk in. I grabbed the Baseus Spacemate 11 in 1 for the physical screen blanking button. It cuts the video signal without disconnecting the monitors so Windows keeps my spreadsheets exactly where they were. It also handles my dual screens and keeps my desk clear of cables.

Okay, please don't judge too hard... But this is the current, chaotic reality of my WFH desk. It's a disaster, and I know it. I've been just kind of making do, but I've finally reached my breaking point and am planning a massive revamp. I need to claim back some space and get this organized.

My plan is to add a second external monitor (hopefully a 4K@60Hz model to go with my current one) and then find a single-cable docking station that can handle everything. This is where I need some help.

Any suggestions from what you all are using would be a huge help. Thanks in advance, and sorry for the eyesore!
