This weekend's lineup & playlist

This weekend's lineup & playlist

Here's an updated view of every EDM act playing around Denver this weekend. Names are sized based on headliner/opener, and the venue capacity they are playing.

New this week: Here's a Spotify playlist with one song from each act playing this week, if you are looking to discover something new.

PS - If any designer wants to partner ($) to create a better template for future weeks let me know - aj@concertqueue.com.

This weekend's lineup

I added in Thursday instead of Sunday this week, since it's a bit more eventful this time around. Names are sized based on venue capacity.

Let me know if these are useful or not, or if I'm missing anything you're going to and I'll make sure to add it in next time.

Denver concert calendar: Shows this weekend! And beyond...

I've been building an app as a fun side project, but not everyone wants another app, so I used the data to build out a webpage to easily see who is playing at every venue, every night in Denver/Boulder.

There's 17 concerts today, 36 Fri, 39 Sat, and 15 on Sunday, so I can't fit them all in the screenshots above, but you can select any date out until June 2027 for a full list. I update it with new shows ~2x per day.

The phone app version has filters for venues, genres, subgenres, and a lot more, but I think simple websites look best.

Anyway, if I'm missing any shows that are important to you let me know, I can usually get them added in a few hours. Later this week I hope to add an "Announced this week" page too, since it's a headache to keep up with new concert announcements in Denver.

Three weeks later: Updates in ConcertQueue based on r/denveredm's feedback!

Wow really appreciate all the love from this community on my last post when I shared the app I built (ConcertQueue.com)! I wasn't sure anyone would care beyond my friend group, but there's now 500 of you who have started using it.

I spent a lot of nights over the past 3 weeks and implemented most everything the community asked for.

New venues and one-off shows:

  • All concerts at Marquis, The Oriental, The Federal, and Bellco are all added.
  • The bigger project: A new system to load in shows that don't belong to a typical every day venue: "Venue TBA", "Secret Venue", Afters, DubWub/River Bar, Denver Progressive House nights, and nearly 100 total shows overall.
  • I'm sure there's still some smaller shows I'm missing - so if there's anything important to you let me know and I'll add them asap. (thanks u/pocketmonster and u/I_boof_geritol)

Sub-genres were completely reworked:

  • Added new sub-genres (Hard Techno, Future Funk, and more).
  • Reviewed ~2,200 artists in total. Local acts without spotify/apple presence are hard.
  • There will always be disagreements on subgenres and I tried to limit the number of subgenres so there aren't 100 filter options. But if I missed anything keep using the flag/report icon on any concert and I get a telegram notfication to fix it with 1 tap. Really appreciate how much the community contributed here!

Concert history / archive

  • After a show you were going to/interested in happens, the app will ask if you attended. This way you can track every show you go to: This is in the 'You' page.(u/Going_through_it_)

Smaller stuff

  • You won't get logged out anymore.
  • Friend requests badge the Friends tab and app icon.
  • Lots of behind the scenes work so I can fix flagged shows faster.

Coming soon

  • Toggle to make an individual show private from your friends (u/derichsma23's idea).
  • Follow an artist and get notified when they announce a show (once the data is 100% clean to ensure that nobody gets a bad notification - we're close!)

This was a big weekend for music in the Denver/Boulder area - hope everyone had a blast.

I made a free app to track every Denver show and which of your friends are going (started as and to spend less time on Instagram)

I was having a really hard time tracking show announcements across our ~40 venues and which of my friends were going, so I built a free app for iPhone and Android to make sure I never miss a show, and my friends can see who's going to what.

Software and live music are my main hobbies, so this started as a fun project for my friends, but it's really caught on so I wanted to share it for anyone local who has the same problems that I did.

The app is called ConcertQueue (concertqueue.com).

Here's the problems I tried to solve:

  1. Nothing is more disappoitning than finding out an artist I just discovered played here last week and I didn't know. Keeping up with 40 venue pages while trying to minimize time on Instagram didn't work.
  2. Almost as bad, finding out one of my friends was at the same show as me, but neither of us knew.
  3. It was weirdly hard to see every show happening on one specific night. Friends wanted to visit August 22nd.. How do I see a consolidated list? And even harder to filter to only venues/genres I was interested in.

I tried to make it really simple: You discover shows through a 'queue' then tap 'going' or 'interested' to build your calendar. You set filters for venues and genres you are interested in. Your friends' faces show up on shows they picked. And you can easily view a list of ALL shows happening on any day (1st screenshot I attached, but you can scroll through all venues). That's basically the whole app. Bonus: If you're like me, people always ask what other shows you have coming up, and it's super easy to share the list.

The existing apps didn't work for us.

  • Several friends felt uncomfortable with the dating/messaging aspects of the popular apps. Some apps were iOS only, and my best friends have Android. And some others were EDM only, but my friend group likes other genres too.
  • So ConcertQueue covers every genre, it's on both Android/iOS, and there's no chat or DMs at all. You discover shows, build your calendar, and optionally add your friends.

It's free: No ads, trackers, or subscriptions! It never asks for your location/contacts, and I even built a guest mode that lets you browse the catalog without an account if you prefer. I even added lineups with links to Spotify/Apple Music so you can easily listen to openers you haven't heard of before (this was super manual / way harder than I thought it would be).

I don't make any money from this, I just love software and live music, so it's just been fun to build and wanted to share. Right now it only includes shows from Denver/Boulder/Summit County, so if you are in the area I'd love for you to try it and tell me if anything sucks or could be better.

I crunched the numbers: Why we needed A.J. Epenesa

With A.J. Epenesa joining the Eagles yesterday, I investigated the most important roster-building principle in franchise history:

  • The single strongest predictor of Eagles success is AJ concentration.

Since 1997, the Eagles are 147-79-2 in seasons where they rostered 1+ AJs. 7 NFC Championship appearances, and 2 Lombardis.

Without an AJ, they are 120-120-1, with only 1 NFC Championship appearance over that span. That perfectly .500 record with 1 NFC Championship appearance in 30 years may remind you of another pathetic franchise, which notably has not rostered any real AJs.

The AJ lineage:

  • A.J. Feeley: The same year we drafted him, the Eagles ended a 20-year NFC Championship appearance drought and made 3 straight NFC Championships with him on the roster. We saw a 4th when he returned for his 2nd stint.
  • Alshon Jeffery: Whose Instagram bio literally says “AJ” - signed a 1 year deal in 2017. The Eagles won Super Bowl LII the same year. We missed the playoffs the year he was placed on IR.
  • A.J. Brown: After one AJ-less season resulted in no playoff wins, Howie corrected his mistake and traded for A.J. Brown in 2022. We went to the Super Bowl the same year.
  • A.J. Brown + A.J. Woods: In 2024, Howie added a second AJ to the practice squad. The Eagles achieved the formidable 2x AJ stack and won Super Bowl LIX.
  • A.J. Brown + A.J. Dillon: In 2025, the Eagles once again had two AJs. Unfortunately, this also coincided with Kevin Patullo's offense, the only immovable object which could stop this unstoppable force.

It has long been rumored that Jalens were the key, but 2020's 3x Jalen stack of Hurts + Mills + Reagor and 2025's stack of Hurts + Carter + Phillips disproved this.

Now, A.J. Epenesa arrives to keep the sacred chain intact. See you in the Super Bowl.
