A rant about Chara and Their "Fans"...
Since my last post was mostly positively reviewed, I think I'll do a second one to see what happens next.
Important: These are just my thoughts and opinions, if you happen to do these things, then I'm sorry, but I guess until you prove me wrong, this is how I'll think of you in the back of my head.
I really think that some Chara "Fans" these days are truly starting to become messed up individuals in general, I mean seriously, not to only bring up the corn shit of them, but people that just make "AUs" to get off on shifting Chara into their fetishes or kinks, with all the bullshit I've seen of some unnamed individuals, it's getting harder and harder to believe that people actually like the character and more just want to be horny for them. And they do weird stuff with the character, and the reason I say this for Chara specifically? It's simple. Because I see people do it with them or Frisk the most, but I like Chara more. But the whole time, I just see things like fangames or fan art sexualizing them a lot, it's different from arguing or debating on whether or not they are a girl or a boy, that's just something people will argue about, but people deliberately go out of their way to make NSFW and specifically fetishes and kinks or them, and when questioned, they'll say things like:
"I'm portraying them as an adult"
"They're a girl so of course they'll have the anatomy"
"This is just my AU"
Now while it could genuinely be one of these reasons, you can not PAY ME to believe that it just so happens in your Undertale "AU", Chara is a masochist, and your sona just so happens to be a sadist or whatever. It's sickening. Now for the people that give them female properties without sexualizing them, that is fine, but when too many stars start aligning I start giving a side eye. I feel like some people just take Chara, and decide to change them into whatever they want, not just because it would feel cool, or a wacky interpretation, but because it's their "fantasies", if you know what I mean. There are a lot, and I mean A LOT of examples out there, masochism is the first that came to mind, but when I see people going to "fan art" of a "hot" Chara and say weird things like "Please break my bones" or "I'd be her slave" or things like that... ARE YOU EVEN A FAN??? OR ARE YOU JUST A HORNY BASTARD???
I MEAN DEADASS PEOPLE WRITING NSFW CHARA X OC/SELF-INSERT/READER FANFICS FOR WHAT PURPOSE OTHER THAN TO JUST PROJECT THEIR HORMONAL ISSUES ONTO THEM???
People often forget that just because they can make an "AU" of a character, it doesn't mean they can straight up make what some people would consider a "wet dream" of a character and can stay unjudged and get away with it. Some Chara fans are just straight-up fucking Larpers of the characters. They're there for Chara's body, and if they don't have that body type? Well, they'll just DO IT ANYWAY!
And, to be honest? It's not "some" weirdos. It's a very loud, very common segment of the fandom. Pretending otherwise is cope. At the same time, not every piece of gendered fan art or light shipping is malicious fetish fuel, fandoms gonna fandom. But what I'm saying is that there is a CLEAR ASS LINE.
Sorry if my rant doesn't fit this subreddit, I'll delete it if I have to, but I just can't hold onto these thoughts by myself any longer.
