Thinking about my next Designer Toy collectible– two directions, would love your honest feedback

I make handmade resin pieces under AKCNSTUDIOS. My first drop got mixed feedback – some fair, some harsh. Took it on board.
For the next one I’m thinking vinyl instead of resin. More accessible, lower price.
I’ve got two directions and I’m genuinely torn. Both keep the glowing slit eyes – that’s my signature across everything.
Direction 1: Stay with the rabbit. All black, streetwear, slit eyes. Continuation of the The Noir line.
Direction 2: Tokyo / Japanese influence. Different silhouette, kimono, pattern work, more color.
Heads up: the images are AI drafts. I didn’t want to spend months sculpting before knowing which direction people actually connect with. The final piece will be designed in a feasible way.
Which one would you actually want on your shelf? Honest answers welcome – even brutal ones. Ideas of adding details are warmly welcome…
– A.

My Art object „The Noir“

Hey everyone,

I’m the artist behind AKCNSTUDIOS and I’ve been working on my own limited designer piece called THE NOIR.

It’s part of my “NOT A TOY” concept — somewhere between designer toy, sculpture and collectible art object. The idea was to create something that feels dark, minimal, premium and present in a room, not like a regular toy.

Each piece is handmade, finished by hand, signed and numbered. I’m currently building the full world around it: the figure, the packaging, the story, the photography and the drop.

I’d honestly love to hear what this community thinks:

Does it feel more like a collectible figure, an art object, or something in between?

I wear a mask in real life. So I made one as a 28cm figure. Meet THE NOIR.

I’m an artist working under AKCNSTUDIOS, based near Basel, Switzerland.
Two years ago I started building a figure that says what I couldn’t. The idea is simple: everyone wears a mask. The doctor who’s sick still treats patients. The sales manager whose dog just died still smiles at the client. We don’t hide – we just have to function. The mask makes it visible. THE NOIR is 28cm, handcrafted, airbrushed. Limited run. Each one finished by hand – no two are exactly the same.
Reddit feels like the right place to actually talk about it, because most of you here get it.

The piece comes in a custom case with foam inlay, certificate and a personal number code connected to the edition.

I’d love honest feedback:

Does this feel more like a designer toy, a sculpture, or a collectible art object

Happy to answer anything – process, materials, why airbrush over spray, why 28cm specifically, why limited. Curious what you think of the concept.
