Rec Room is closing, but the journey of the creators is NOT over. There is hope!

The sunsetting of Rec Room feels like the end of an era, and for many of us, it feels like losing a piece of our history. However, I want to share a message of hope that might ease the pain: This is the end of a game, but not the end of the creators.

While the servers of Rec Room are going dark in June 2026, the company and the brilliant minds behind it are not leaving the industry. Developing games is in their DNA. They haven't lost their passion for building social spaces; they are simply closing one chapter to start a new, more sustainable one.

Think about it: The talent, the creativity, and the "secret sauce" that made Rec Room special are still here. Whether they continue as a restructured team or bring their magic to new projects, the mission to connect people remains alive. We might see new, lighter, and smarter games from them in the future—projects that take everything we loved about Rec Room and build it on a stronger foundation.

Don't look at this as a total disappearance. Look at it as a "reboot." The developers have learned so much from all of us over the last decade, and I truly believe they will use that experience to surprise us with something new when the time is right.

Rec Room was their first masterpiece, but it won't be their last. Let’s keep our eyes on the horizon. The company might be changing, but the spirit of innovation never dies.

Stay hopeful, keep creating, and let's wait for the next "Room" they build for all of us.

Rec Room may be ending, but our "Message" is eternal: A final thank you.

The news has hit us all hard. Seeing the servers of a place we called "home" prepare to go dark is heartbreaking. For many of us, Rec Room wasn’t just a game on a console or a headset; it was a sanctuary where we built worlds from scratch and friendships that felt more real than anything else.

But as the countdown to June 2026 begins, we need to remember something vital: The servers might be closing, but the mission has already been accomplished.

The core values of Rec Room—the spirit of collaboration, the joy of creating together, the warmth of a community that welcomed everyone, and the simple act of being kind to a stranger—none of that is tied to a piece of code. Those values now live within us.

Every time you help a new player in another game, every time you collaborate on a project, and every time you choose kindness over toxicity, you are carrying the "Rec Room spirit" forward. We are the architects of this community, and the buildings we constructed in-game were just practice for the real-world connections we’ve made.

To the developers and the team at Rec Room: Thank you for giving us the canvas. We may be losing the canvas, but we are keeping the art.

Don't be sad because it’s over; be proud because we were part of something that changed the way we connect. Take your photos, hug your friends, and remember: The party doesn't end here—it just moves to a new room.

Long live the memories. See you in the next world.
