Hush recording clipping

Hi there, I love the new Wow Signal album from muse. So I decided to buy the album as high res flac files (from qobuz.com). Also because I wanted to use the files in a passion project of mine. I wanted to look at the waveform to see what the quality of the download I bought was and I was surprised to see the files clipping. The first image shows a part of the wave that has like 40 samples that are clipping in a row. Even though the wave looks like it's clipping like shit it still sounds fine. But it is really loud compared to any other media I play on my PC. I was also surprised to see the playback from spotify clipping.

When I looked at the waves of other songs I noticed Hush was the only song (apart from the sickness in you and I) that was clipping so severly. The other songs looked pretty compressed but at least weren't clipping as often.

I think the reason for the clipping is because the master is compressed or limited and after that normalized to 0dB.

So my question is: is this a trend in modern music that all songs are mixed as loud as possible (thinking about the loudness wars) and compressed a lot. Or is this something Muse is unique in.

Also have some of experienced the same "issues" with muse songs in the past?

Anyway, I still love listening to this album. But this does make me rethink my own mixing practices.
