First Tax return - postmark date for envelope
I have been helped my employers accounting firm to submit my first tax return. It's a paper submission being my first one .
The issue is they sent me all the paperwork last Friday evening telling me where to sign etc , but I didn't see it until Monday as I was travelling.
The Petit issue I have is that i am out of country for work, and need to send it via post. I've printed and signed where I needed to sign. 45 pages of documents.
According to the internet as long as the LA Poste post mark date shows 19th May 2026 or earlier, I will not be required to pay penalties.
I can only use DHL to courier it from the country I am in (at great expense but less than the 10% penalty - I am due a refund).
So if i courier it today, I will have proof I sent it on 19th May, and it will be delivered to them by Friday. If anyone has experience, do you think I will still be hit with a penalty?
As usual in my experience with them, the accounting company has not responded to any of my emails asking for clarification.
