Big Banana Bunyip sculpture (2ND PASS) by Jesse Farell (WIP)

I thought I'd share the work in progress of the sculpture I've commissioned for the BB Bunyip comic I've been working on. I already had been working with Jesse before as he did the ghosts for my comic cover for my last big book.

We are making a brand new diorama for this and I cautiously suspect you guys are gonna like it.

This is still definitely a work in progress but if you'd like to check out Jesse's brilliant work here's his site.

Updates on my BB Bunyip comic making journey is on my Patreon.

thanks and have a good weekend!

New raw unfiltered Bunip Pics

Hey some of you fellow BBB fans know that I've been working on a non fiction comic history of the Big Banana Bunyip. (The book is estimated to be completed in early 2027)

I finally got the new Bunyip pics I received last week, but now in a raw, no AI filter form so I thought I'd premiere them here first.

This book is the result of interviews and research I've done from Boston, Ma USA (via emails and many phone calls) to Coffs Harbour in Australia.

These pics seen here are photos of photos so it's the real thing.

My comics are free to read but I try to hook up my dear patrons with cool stuff and show all the progress on my story about her so far. I'll have another big update soon.

When the book is completed, it will be available for sale through my site.

Partial proceeds of it will be going to kidney disease research.

thanks so much everyone, I've learned so much here and appreciate the support.

Searching for Big Banana Bunyip Repair Crew

Hello,

Please stay with me here, but I've been researching the historic animatronic bunyip once operating at the Big Banana Fun Park.

I'm especially looking for the commercial divers who might have worked at the Big Banana between the years 1991 and 2005.

I'm in the final stages of my non-fiction, comics based story on the history of the park and the bunyip and I'm pushing for any final info to add to the work.

If you kind people here would be willing to share contact info for any divers, former employees, or anyone generally that has been traumatized by the bunyip, please have them reach out to me.

I'd be grateful to hear from them and to you/all.

I was recently featured on ABC radio nationwide with Angela Catterns regarding my search for the bunyip repair crew from the park.  I'm a working cartoonist and I'm being totally 100% serious.

This is a labor of love and partial proceeds of the book will be going to kidney disease research.

I have learned in my studies these past few years that the Big Banana and the bunyip are fondly revered by the good people of Coffs Coast.

My comic will strive to champion this important Australian icon.

Thanks,

Big Banana Bunyip Blurb

Hello,

Some of the lurkers here might know that I've been working on a non fiction comic about the history of the Big Banana Bunyip.

I was finishing the story up but cracked open a few leads last night.

The good news is that I found some people that were in direct charge of the bunyip and the story will be bigger with more bunyip everything. The bad news is the comic won't be finished this summer.

"As far as I know the bunyip is at the bottom of the dam...Don’t think the new owners would have removed it" -8/20/26

This isn't an actual confirmation that she is still there, but it's coming from the person in charge of maintaining the beast. This guy and his crew had to remove the whole thing from the pond and reinstall it after major repairs.

I feel If anyone would know how easy it was to remove , it would be him.

The bunyip head as you superfans know was the size of a small car.

I'm sending over my interview questions to these Big Banana veterans. I got the messages last night and could barely sleep. I was about 2 pages away from finishing the book till I got the news.

One of best parts of the research part is the people who are like "what the heck who are you? how did you find me?"

I'm a cartoonist but I work full time and unfortunately comics work and the bunyip book is a labor of love, so I truly appreciate the support. You will be able to buy a copy from me when it is completed.

you guys are the best, thanks submergedanimatronic/reddit!

Moby Dick of Pleasure Island, Wakefield, Massachusetts

I believe these pics are from the book Pleasure Island by Robert McLaughlin available here.

Waiting to confirm.

(I somehow live about only 20 minutes away from this horrid thing)
