WTF do I do with my baby with eczema who might be teething? [ca]
Baby is 8 months and refusing solids lately.
He gets contact rashes from any purees and currently has a drool rash/eczema that is keeping him up at night. Anything acidic or wet hurts his existing eczema. Lately foods also bother the eczema on his hands I think. Past week refusing almost all solids and his teeth seem to be bothering him too but I don't actually see any peaking through yet?
Initially was still eating processed teething crackers and puffs but today started wailing and scratching at his neck after eating one and only calmed down after I aggressively massaged his gums with my fingers.
Refusing any cold teethers or pops too.
Also likely has a dairy food allergy so we are holding dairy for now.
I'm giving tylenol but he needs to eat!
We are waiting on a referral to an allergist for food allergies and eczema but their waitlist is long and we are still waiting for our turn. It has been over two months already. I have tried calling the office to see if they can expedite but they haven't gotten back to me. I've already used hydrocortisone and given reactine more than his GP advised because otherwise he just cries, scratches at his neck and won't sleep. Mitts don't work because he uses them to give himself a friction burn which heals much worse than fingernail scratches.
Also the neck scratching might be both the drool rash and could also be referred pain from teething.
I just don't know what to do.
