What vacuum(s)/other cleaning devices do you recommend for a mix of both carpet/hardwood flooring?
OK, so my family is trying to refurnish our house. We plan to tear out all the carpet in the kitchen/hallway and replace it with hardwood floors. However, the bedrooms and living room will still be carpet. I was looking at upright vacuums (in particular, the Kirby Sentria II) but I learned that Kirbys weigh a lot. So I would prefer a pre-owned vacuum that doesn't weigh a lot and can polish up both hardwood and carpet flooring with ease. Allergies aren't really a concern for us, and my budget is around $300-$500.
I would also prefer something like the Kirby with higher suction power. We have to vacuum the floor in the living room quite frequently due to how low our current vacuum's suction power is (It's a Dirt Devil, but I don't know the model name).
