Best vacuum for my situation

Hello,

I am looking for help selecting a vaccum for my situation and budget. My current house setup:

-2600 sqft 2 floor house
-4 pets (2 cats, 2 large dogs); all are heavy shedders
-Base floor is all hardwood/tile, but approx 50% or slightly more covered in low to medium pile area rugs (wife loves them)

I had a Dyson V15 that worked fine, but the motor failed after a little over 3 years which I find is unacceptable for something that expensive, so im done with Dyson. I bought a Bissell Powerclean Dual brush which I actually like, but it is terrible at picking up pet hair from my carpets.

I really don’t want to spend a ton of money right now, but I need something better than I have. I’m thinking <$500 budget. I was considering kenmore canisters like the 600 pop and go (Bc4030 or 4039), Elite 21814, or even Intuition upright. I was also thinking of just getting a Navigator Lift Away NV352 and calling it a day for now. I know everyone recommends SEBO + Miele, but I think those are out of my budget.

Any help would be appreciated!

Commercial Grade Mop Vacuum?

Hey!

I am in need of a new commercial grade mop vac. I've been looking around and I can only find regular commercial grade vacuums.

I am coming off of the Tineco S7 PRO and don't think I will be buying it again.

I need something very efficient and high performing with sanitation in mind. I run a gym and we need to clean ~2,400 square feet in between classes (about a 15 minute window) so I prefer cordless. I would also prefer something not walk-behind (the big ones) as we need a fast turnaround.

Are my expectations too high? Or will I have to resort to a dedicated vacuum and then a dedicated scrubber?

Experts, plz help me choose a vacuum

I’ve used all kinds of run of the mill vacuums over the years but most recently Dysons and Shark (worst ever owned).. I have 2 short haired cats and 2 short haired dogs. Entire house is hardwood or LVP. I’m looking for a step up from Dyson (over priced for what it is) and found the Sebo Felix. The price seems more than fair for the quality. I’ve never owned a bag vacuum (I’ve always been afraid of the inconvenience and cost). It’s very obvious that bagged are superior so I’ve decided to give it a go… would you say the SEBO FELIX is the way to go for me or are there others to consider within that price point?

Thank you!

Miele consider the pole as a consumable part!

Mum had a Miele S5211 for 19 years, it gave up finally in December 2025.

She purchased a new Miele S1 in December, all was fine until last week, when the telescopic pole broke, (it keeps collapsing down on itself and won’t stay up on any setting).

She brought it back to power city where the staff proceeded to laugh at her and tell her that it was a consumable part and she would have to buy a new pole at €87 (nearly half the cost of the original vacuum!)

When she went to the Miele store, the sales lady, when trying to sell her a new vacuum, proceeded to tell her that everything including the pole was included in Miele’s two year parts and labour guarantee!

When she told her what happened, she gave her a number for Miele to call:

We got the following email offering a discount on a new pole!

It has totally put me off buying a new Miele to replace my S5211!

Upright recommendations

Hello everyone, I'm looking for a decently high end upright that's got a good warranty, bagged, hepa filter, electric head, and good build quality. I did some research recently and decided that I wanted to get the miele guard electro. Having two dogs, carpet, and a fiance that has allergies I thought this would have been a good option until I was shot down because she didn't like the pull behind style of vacuum. So back to the drawing board. Thank you

Budget:$250-$400 Floor type:mostly low carpet

Purchase advice

Hey y’all! I was planning on buying a Dyson, but I’ve been seeing mixed reviews, especially about their customer service.

  1. My kids love taking things apart and building stuff, so when I clean, I always find screws of different sizes, wires, and other random little pieces.

  2. I end up cleaning the house every week because it gets really dusty. If I don’t, my nose and throat get stuffy. Would it make more sense to get an air purifier or something instead?

  3. Wooden + tile floors. Prefer budget, willing to spend more if it'll last for a long time.

Not sure if this is the right place to ask, so apologies if it isn’t. Thanks!

What vacuum do husky owners recommend?

My fiancée and I live in a carpeted duplex and vacuum a few times a week. Each time we have to empty the vacuum THREE times minimum. We are tired of replacing our vacuum annually… do you guys have any recommendations?

Pictures of our princess Skylar for reference.

Were FilterQueen Majestic vacuum cleaners really $3000+ at one point? They were $1500 regular price on their site as of last year and are now $2000 but still go on sale periodically as low as $999

I've been watching some videos from a vacuum technician on YouTube and keep hearing him say, along with numerous comments in the comment section, how these are $2000-$3000+ vacuum cleaners. But as long as they been selling them online in recent years, they were only $1500 regular price and only recently went up to $2000 as the new regular price. Although much like shopping at Kohl's or JCPenney, they're frequently "on sale" for as low as $999.

Were the high pressure door to door sales people back in the day really asking for $3000+ for them decades ago?

Repair or Replace...

I have a 14 year old Dyson DC33. I noticed it wasn't doing much for the carpets last week and started troubleshooting. From what I can tell, I believe the clutch that turns the belt to the roller is failing. It will turn briefly when the head is tilted to engage or if you push the roller with you finger, but it only rotates for a second or two.

Our home was almost entirely carpet when we purchased it 14 years ago. Now, our home is all hardwood flooring with area rugs. I have found the clutch assemblies for around $50 and could probably manage to replace it. Before I go that route, I am curious if there are better options for use on hardwood and rugs. My wife would also like something that is easier to use on our furniture. We don't have inside pets, but with five ladies in the house, their hair kept the Dyson roller in a perpetual state of a tangled mess.

I would be looking for something in under $300 and would probably stick with a corded option. I am not sold on the battery stick vacuums yet. I know the budget is limiting, but I am not convinced we need more than that. Any suggestions or recommendations?

Improving sebo e1 and recommendations for a stick vacuum (wool loop pole)

Hi everyone

Currently have a sebo E1 as need suction only due to having wool loop pile carpet.

I’m actually pretty disappointed in its performance, really struggles with long hair. (Any recommendations on how to improve this).

I’m also after a cordless stick vacuum, I realise most people don’t rate them but like the idea of one for quick jobs.

Any recommendations for models that can switch the beater bar off?

I’ve used google and it recommends the Henry?

Thanks for any help

Dang! What does this very important part I am missing look like?

So I got this machine FREE! (Dyson DC-33) but it was filthy and hadn't been used in a long time.

Since I enjoy cleaning stuff up, I spent all day working on it. Got it looking great! However, I hadn't noticed one important part was missing. I have no idea what it looks like. Could someone tell me, or show me it? I'll try to find it on eBay i guess.

Thanks so much!

Looking for Recommendations

After a quick scan of this subreddit, I'm seeing a lot of Miele and Sebo recommendations. Unfortunately, Sebo is out of my price range so I'm looking at Miele now, but I'm open to other brands.

Budget: <$500

Use case: I have a 2 story home with 2 dogs and a cat. Shedding isn't a HUGE deal because my dogs are poodles and my cat doesn't shed too too much, but I would like something that can handle the occasional hair clean up. Our house is 99% hardwood, we just have 2 medium-sized area rugs.

If there's any more info I can provide that will help, let me know. Looking to get something now while the 4th of July sales are happening because my current vaccuum just isn't cutting it anymore.

Easy to use and not too loud on short carpet please?

Hi! Got a place! Life is going great but I need a vacuum. I have no pets and this weird super short hard carpet is everywhere including two sets of stairs. What would you recommend that is fairly easy to use?(i have minor back and shoulder issues) and isnt too overly loud(doesnt have to be perfectly quiet or anything).

I do have some allergy issues, thus no pets.

under 300 is prefered...but i could go a bit higher if its really a huge difference.

Ive been eyeing the Kenmore 600 canister vacuum. Thoughts?

Thank you so much for your help I really appreciate it! <3<3<3

Commercial companies using low-grade machines?

Has anyone noticed how professional carpet cleaning companies tend to use low-grade residential units to pre-vacuum? I understand that main units can easily cope with the debris left behind by the cheap vacuums, but it still baffles me to see commercial cleaning companies using a dinky little shark labeled "professional" on the front that doesn't even have a three-prong cord. I try to find good pre-vacuuming content to see commercial vacuum cleaners in use but often come up dry. Anyone else notice this phenomenon?

Advice on Miele S5211 bags and maintenance

Hi all,

Just picked up a used S5211. It's my first Miele vacuum and I want to give it some tlc.

The exhaust fitter looks incomplete. It's just a piece of fabric sandwiched inside the honeycomb frame. The Activ airclean exhaust filters online seem to have a pleated filter. Am I missing something here?

A quick Google also tells me that this model takes GN bags, however this vacuum came with an FJM bag. Is it safe to keep using this?

Would love some advice on this matter and would appreciate any extra maintenance tips to keep this miele running for a long time.
Thanks in advance.

Wool area rug help

I have a new 8’x10’ wool area rug. Used my Shark to vacuum it for the first time and quickly realized it needed special treatment - it lifted off a ton of wool and quickly clogged the machine. Not good for the rug or the machine. So, having never had a canister vac before I am looking at those. Here are the considerations:
I have LVP floors so not worried about hardwood issues. Also have other area rugs. Would really like to keep it in the $300 - $400 range maybe $500. 2 large non-shedding dogs who track in dusty dirt through the doggie door.

Would a Miele C1 do the job?
I’d pay more for the Sebo Balance A1 cordless because I’m used to upright and the cordless feature really appeals.

I am really stuck in this rabbit hole. Thanks!!

Need advice on what robo vacuum and mop combo 400-600$

I’m looking for a robot vacuum and mop combo for my living room and kitchen (both wood floors with small rugs.) I don’t have pets or anything so I don’t care about that. I’ve been looking through this Reddit but I feel like I’m getting contradictory advice! What I’m looking for:
- low maintenance
- has a good reputation with little maintenance issues
- easy to repair or good warranty if something happens
- good navigation around furniture and carpets
- in general just not a headache
- 400-600 range can be a little over or under
Thanks! Any advice or experience appreciated!
Some I’ve been considering:
Roborock Q7 M5+
Eufy Omni C28
Dreame L40? Idk if I should get ultra or gen 2 or what

Bagless?

Okay y’all walk with me here. I know for a fact bagged machines are the best hands down. But just wanna see something, what is in y’all’s opinion the best bagless vacuum. Whether it be performance or durability etc I just kinda wanna see gun to y’all’s head what we would use if we absolutely had to go bagless (not that I plan on it). But my honest answer is a shark navigator lift away pro ( the white one) now is it the best vacuum? No but back when I think my grandparents had one about 10 years ago that thing honestly did great on everything and most everything was semi easy to take care of minus no way to take that roller out or fix it besides getting a whole new head (I know shark=bad but you gotta admit that early cheaper ones did pretty good)
