As a guy who’s been reading some of y’all posts, I feel like mentioning that Tanya’s not ok with killing civilians (non-combatants) , like, not just rationally and with the need to follow the rules of war, she’s genuinely personally and morally(I know , surprise, she has morals ( at least later on ))and emotionally not ok with killing civilians . If there were no rules holding her back and given a choice she still wouldn’t kill civilians >!( and shown in LN vol. 8 , she secretly asks Weiss if the church they were shelling had any civilians inside , despite the fact that the rus were not beholden to the rules of war and the fact that the rus had been shelling imperial cities (ie the rus don’t have the moral high ground) and the legal department gave solders the ok. Weiss reassures her that there were none and in a way that implies this request to make sure there were no civilians in the buildings they shell was a common one )!<

Tanya thinks that civilians, peeps who are just engaging in economic activity ( ie just going about their lives and not actively trying to kill others ) should not get involved in the mess that is the battlefield

Though if killing civilians was absolutely necessary, she would still do it , she would hate it , but she would do it

She came up with the legally burn a city plan cause she was asked how to handle urban warfare legally , the plan was morally awful and she agrees to this sentiment, she thinks it’s awful as well , she even mentions that she refuses to actually do it ( we know how that went ) , but as a pragmatic person and as she says , a person with what passes for an intellectual education, it would be an inexcusable error to not consider it.

It’s kinda another one of those things where her overachieving and over competent self bites her in the ass

To add some more stuff here , she could barely stand the meat stew on the train back and mentions she wouldn’t be able to stomach a meat doria , if she was just nervous and nauseous due to legal issues, she wouldn’t be having specific problems with meat

The whole Arene thing in the LN is written in a way that tells you she was not ok with it at all, if she was, she wouldn’t hate the commies so much
