Encounter after-presence: a perception I’ve been struggling to define

Hi everyone!

I had some experiences back in 2023 while camping remote areas and it changed my life. One of the things I’ve been struggling to define is the strong feeling of an additional presence to my lived experience/awareness for more than a year afterwards (assuring everyone here, not in a paranoid way). I originally was calling this psychic voyeurism but that term is a bit too charged. I landed on encounter after-presence and a definition and I’m curious how others experience this or if you know of other posts that discuss this. I believe the definition still stands whether or not there truly is “something happening” - it might also be part of human nature to feel this way after such an experience.

Encounter after-presence

The lingering experiential sense that an encounter continues through an unseen awareness or relational presence after the primary event has ended.

Encounter after-presence refers to the enduring phenomenological sense, following an anomalous or extraordinary encounter, that an external intelligence or non-ordinary awareness remains perceptually or psychically adjacent to the experiencer’s life. This may manifest as feelings of being observed, accompanied, subtly influenced, or relationally connected despite the absence of overt sensory phenomena.

Up for discussion! Thanks everyone
