The Church of Saint Anthony of Padua (Turkish: Sent Antuan Kilisesi)

The Church of Saint Anthony of Padua located on the bustling İstiklal Avenue in the Beyoğlu district, is the largest Roman Catholic church in Istanbul.

The first church on this site was built in 1725 by the Italian community but was later demolished to make way for a tramway.

The present-day building was constructed between 1906 and 1912.

Pope John XXIII preached here for 10 years while serving as the Vatican’s ambassador to Turkey; a statue of him stands in the courtyard.
