Are essential oils in dog shampoo still toxic for cats?
So I might be about to sound incredibly stupid, but im panicking at midnight so please bear with me. Im getting a new puppy at the start of June and I’ve been making a list of things ill need to get for him. I already own three cats, but they have grown up around pit bulls so im not worried about them getting along. HOWEVER, while looking online, i noticed a-lot of dog shampoos and colognes have lots of different essential oils in them. I already knew most were poisonous to cats, so i was trying to research what to avoid. Every website i saw said ALL essential oils are poisonous and to avoid letting your cats have ANY contact with them. Now im freaking out, because i cant find a puppy shampoo without them, but i also dont want my cats to get sick if they try to groom him and some of the essential oils are still on him from the shampoo. Is it safer to use my cat shampoo on him? Will the cats be ok with the dog shampoo on him? My cats are really old and i dont want to make them sick 🥲 i really appreciate any assistance and advice.
