Is Endocrinology necessary?
I recently got diagnosed with Hashimotos after going to a follow up apt about my thyroid and got a bunch of lab work done. I was given an referral to find an endocrinologist near my hometown(I got diagnosed while at college). I'm wondering how necessary it really is to see one and how soon should I see one.
For reference my Thyroglobulin antibody is 356 and my Thyroid Peroxidase antibody/TPO is 5,403, TSH is 9.4 and my T4 is .84. I was prescribed Levothyroxine 50mcg and I've been taking it for nearly two weeks now and so far I feel more balanced than I have in the past year.
I'm kind've on my own for this, I don't have a primary care provider as my family wasn't one for yearly Dr Checkups and calling all these different places is stressful especially with insurance for some reason. So I don't really know where to go from here. Anyways that spill probably didn't help but if y'all have any advice I'd be super grateful!
