And that's a wrap! Thanks to everyone who reviewed, commented, and reached out with praise and violence. I really like this whole reader interaction thing, and I really thought I wouldn't because I find the idea of actual readers, reading my stuff terrifying. Completely terrifying. I love writing books. I love the drama, the characters, another world where I can go where things make sense, the good guys win, the bad guys lose, and it all works out. But if I don't share my work, then it feels like I'm hogging all that for myself. And over the years, people tell me how much my books have helped them deal with the real world, where the good guys don't always win.

The first book is out in the world! Yes! I'm super excied, super nervous, though I know it's going to take some time for it to catch on. It's my first slow-burn harem novel. But I really believe in the story and the characters, and I know it will find readers who will love it.

When I’m starting a new project, I think about how I want to feel while I write the book. Well, not just what I want to feel while writing but what other people want to feel while reading it.

For the Sinfire Chronicles, I wanted to have that Led Zeppelin feeling—love, yes, but also this feeling of epic transcendence. I wanted to make the book feel like how I feel when I listen to a really good Led Zeppelin song.

I then added other music as I went because I can’t just listen to the same songs over and over again. I added songs from some new bands I found—Black Veil Brides, Beyond the Black, Imperial Age, and Chez Kane.

The result is a big mix of music from Kpop to movie soundtracks.

It’s worked. When I listen to the songs, I’m immediately transported to the world of Midmere.

So I’ve been working hard working with Black Forge Books to release my all-new slow-burn cultivation harem series THE SINFIRE CHRONICLES as well as re-packaging my RAGE KING books as LET’S BE GODS TOGETHER. I love that series so much! It didn’t do so well, and I think it was because of the covers and the title. So we’re trying it again!

I’m working on something with another author under another pen name (which I will soon reveal), which is going really well. It’s zany LitRPG dungeon core and so much fun.

At the same time, I’m working on another new series called THE WOLF OF WITCH HAVEN, which I’ll be posting on Royal Road and Scribblehub here soon. It’s about a guy who ends up as a mascot for a new sorority at a witch college. It’s so much fun. Book one is done, and I’m doing some polishing, and then I’ll send it out to beta readers. Book two and three are still being forged as we speak!

I’ve been kicking around a few ideas for other series including, but not limited too SUCCUBUS BREAKER, MAIDEN’S PEAK, THE HAZARDS OF DUKE COUNTY (Hush Puppy Apocalypse Book 1), HOT CROSS NUNS (Priestess Protector Book 1), and MANA GAS STATION (Date Nights in Dungeon Town Book 1).

Still not sure. I like to work on a couple of different projects at the same time. So we’ll see.

This is why I finish books. I HATE when I’m re-reading a draft of a book and then…there’s no ending. I HATE THAT SO MUCH! So I have to finish books to avoid this terrible feeling! As long as I have an ending, I can then edit it and avoid that “now I have to write the rest of the book” feeling. Which, as I have said five times now, I FUCKING HATE!

NOTE: This happened to me today. Working on the outline for WOLF OF WITCH HAVEN BOOK II. I only did half of the outline! Fuck! When I reached the halfway point, I was so fucking bummed taht I didn't have the full book mapped out. Ugh. Hate that feeling!

I have playlists for all my book series and most of the time, I change those playlists for each book but just slightly. I like to hear the same songs over and over again. And some songs immediately give me the “vibe” of a project.

For Mask City, I have ton of Queensryche (especially “Best I Can”). When I hear the songs, I’m immediately back in Middleton.

💙 My Lady Wednesday: Mai Nakamura 💙

Sometimes the sweetest people carry the heaviest burdens.

This week's My Lady Wednesday is Mai Nakamura, one of the most heartfelt characters in my adult video novel Mask City. Find it on Steam!

Where did The Sinfire Chronicles come from?

Well, The Sinfire Chronicles is a strange combination of Attack on Titan, me growing up Catholic, and Will Wight’s Cradle series (with a dash of Daniel Schinhofen’s Aether’s Revival).

First off, I grew up Catholic, and so I knew all about the seven deadly sins as well as the seven blessed virtues. But somewhere along the way, from someone, I heard about how the sins and virtues could be combined as instincts. We all have natural instincts, and it’s only when our instincts run wild that they become a problem. We need the instinct to eat because it keeps us alive. However, eat too much kettle corn and you have issues. Trust me on this. I had to throw away a bag of Boom Chicka Pop Kettle Corn that I bought from Costco because I couldn’t stop at two cups.

In the book writing world, a lot of books come from the big “What if.” For me, it was, “What if we had a magic system based on the seven deadly sins?”

And the rest is history. I was watching Attack on Titan at the time, and I could see a huge wall in the city and all the recruits in those cool uniforms and of course steaming demons. Then you have the cultivation elements from the Cradle series, and lastly, as a fan of Daniel Schinhofen, I was really captivated by his masterpiece, the Aether’s Revival series, and how he handled the slow-burn harem elements.

Put them all together and you get 7 Deadly Instincts (The Sinfire Chronicles Book 1). And the two sequels. All three are done! Now to keep on polishing them.

Sorority Civil War – All the sorority girls have superpowers and there’s infighting between the heroes and villains for control of the sorority. Girls are being kidnapped or killed because of the civil war.

Pitch #2 Alien Technology Treasure Hunt

Someone is stealing entire houses by sucking them down into the Earth. Who could it be and how can the MC stop them?

Pitch #3 –Factory Attack!

A mysterious supervillain flies into town and tries to destroy the factory. An equally mysterious hero appears to stop him/her. In the stalemate, there is a ton of collateral damage and several houses on the poor side of town are lost. MC must investigate what is happening.

Secret lab under the factory that is researching superheroes and finding a way to either get rid of powers or augment them.

Pitch #4 – Middleton Monsters

Somebody is creating monsters, and they are terrorizing the town.

Someone has found a way of completely removing the evil from normal people, but the evil that is removed becomes shadowy monsters with a lust for destruction. Monsters have a short lifespan, so they appear, do damage, and vanish. The normal people, without their evil, are seriously flawed because they are kinda dumb, naïve, and easily manipulated.

WHICH WOULD YOU WANT TO SEE???

How many notebooks/tabs/documents does it take to build a universe?

Three. Or maybe just one.

No. Definitely Two.

So when I start world-building, I generally do some brainstorming, talk to some friends, talk to some readers, and then come up with the basics—languages, races, currencies, histories, and the magic system. For LitRPG, it would be the game mechanics.

I then write it down in a world bible! And I don’t use fancy. I just use MS Word. I know, I know, I’m a basic bitch.

Now, as I write, I add to the world bible, but then I have a section on the document called THINGS TO REMEMBER as I write the book. Some of that ends up in the world bible as well. I also use comments on the document to remind me of stuff to add in the next draft.

When I’m working on a rough draft, I write the book as fast as possible! Then I do the first draft, where I go through and add anything I missed.
