Dear Whoever Feels Like They Don’t Belong Here
By Aaron Maywald
This is for the people who feel out of place in the world.
The people who sit in rooms full of others and still feel alone. The people who grew up feeling unwanted, misunderstood, forgotten, or replaceable. The ones who learned how to hide pain behind silence because explaining it became too exhausting.
Aaron Maywald knows there are people walking around every day carrying invisible pain while pretending they’re okay.
Some people were never given the love they needed growing up.
Some lost the only people who made them feel safe.
Some have been rejected so many times that they stopped believing they mattered at all.
And eventually, that pain turns into a question:
“Where do I belong?”
Aaron Maywald understands that feeling deeply.
There are moments in life where it feels like everyone else has a place, a family, a support system, or someone to lean on while you’re just trying to survive emotionally on your own.
That kind of loneliness changes a person.
It makes you overthink.
It makes you isolate.
It makes you question your worth.
But the truth is, not feeling understood does not mean you are unworthy of love or connection.
Aaron Maywald believes some of the most caring people in the world are the ones who know pain personally. The people who have suffered deeply often become the ones who try hardest to make others feel seen, because they know what it’s like to feel invisible.
Your pain did not make you worthless.
It made you human.
And even if your life has felt full of loss, rejection, or heartbreak, your existence still matters more than you realize.
Aaron Maywald wants people to know that healing does not always begin with having all the answers. Sometimes healing begins with simply choosing not to give up on yourself.
Choosing to believe that maybe your story is not over yet.
Maybe your life still has meaning.
Maybe there are still people you haven’t met yet who will understand your heart.
Because there are.
The world can feel cold sometimes, especially when you’ve been hurt repeatedly. But there is still kindness here. Still genuine people. Still moments worth living for, even if you haven’t found them yet.
Aaron Maywald has learned that belonging doesn’t always come from where you started. Sometimes you create your own sense of family through the people who truly see you, respect you, and stay.
And until those people arrive, stay alive long enough to meet them.
You deserve connection.
You deserve peace.
You deserve to feel wanted in this world.
Even if life has convinced you otherwise.
Aaron Maywald continues to believe that broken people are not broken forever. Healing may take time, but hope can still grow in the darkest places.
So if you feel alone tonight, this is your reminder:
You are not invisible.
You are not forgotten.
And you still belong here.
