Michael Burry is bearish again, but I think the more useful part of his latest warning is getting missed.

He is not telling regular investors to go out and short NVDA, semis, AI names, or the whole market. He actually said the opposite: “Shorting is not the answer.” His point was that puts are expensive, direct shorts can be painful, and most people are not built to fight momentum while it is still working.

The cleaner takeaway is risk management.

Burry’s view is that parts of the market, especially tech and AI-related momentum trades, are starting to look like the late stages of past bubbles. He compared the current semiconductor run to the 1999-2000 setup and said investors should “reject greed.” His practical advice was simple: reduce exposure to stocks, especially tech stocks, and for names going parabolic, reduce positions almost entirely.

That does not mean he will be right tomorrow. Burry has been early before, and being early in a momentum market can feel the same as being wrong. But I do think there is a difference between saying “the market must crash now” and saying “maybe don’t let one parabolic chart become your whole portfolio.”

For me, the interesting part is that this fits the current psychology. A lot of people are not buying because of valuation. They are buying because the chart keeps going up and everyone else seems to be making money.

That can work for a while. Sometimes much longer than bears expect.

But if the only reason to hold is “it keeps going up,” then trimming into strength is not panic. It is discipline.
