⚠️ BUYER SENDING QR SCAM TO GET BANK LOGIN CREDENTIAL⚠️
Happened today so would like to share out as FYI/PSA to everyone, I posted a used Citizen watch for sell on Carousell...
Somehow one "buyer" instantly make the same offer of posted value without nego, then share screenshot with QR code plus details.
Noticed like the screenshot is grainy and also the watch info listed "Like New", which is different from my own listing:
The scam QR code and sales info
And the scammer's "Carousell Customer Support" on how to proceed
Scammer \"Customer Support\" on how to proceed
The QR code will bring you to an external website, which trying to act like real webpage by having "Human/Bot Verification"
Scam site also got \"Bot/Human check\"
The scammer site is trying to mimic the real Carousell site but I also noticed my username is wrong. Pretty much a fake site that doesn't lead you anywhere unless you press on the "Receive RM450.00" button
Pressing the receive button pretty much brings you to a list of banks to select from
Here's where the scam happens as pop up will ask you to login to your bank account
Clicking on the bank (Which I click CIMB) will show the respective bank login page, which is funny as seller should only provide the bank account number to get money instead of using login credential. Pretty much this is the flow of how scammer lead you thru to get hold of your bank login credential.
Hope this information will help others on avoiding such scammer and don't use your bank login credential other than official bank website/apps.
