Are we the right candidate for sleep training?
Hi all,
LO just turned 6 months.
For the most part since the 4 month sleep regression, we’ve had 1 waking to feed between 2 to 4 am. Before that we were blessed with 9-11h stretches.
For the past week, sleep has been all over the place. In that order, we had
- 1 night where LO slept for 11 hours straight.
- 2 nights with one waking at around 4am for a feed.
- 1 night with LO waking up every hour - NOTE that she had the MMR vaccine on that day but didn’t show sign of discomfort.
- 1 night where it was every 30 minutes where we eventually coslept to get a longer stretch of sleep.
- 1 night with two wakings at 10 pm and 2 am.
- 1 night (last night) with 1 hour stretches between 10 pm and 2 am. LO woke up at 6am, we fed her and she fell back to sleep. It’s 8:30 and she’s still sleeping. I’ll count that as her first nap
We rock LO to sleep and put her down after 10 min. This might be the first thing we have to change.
Since we can get some longer stretches it seems that LO is inconsistently able to connect sleep cycles so we’re unsure if doing Ferber is appropriate.
The moment she wakes up during the night, she rolls onto her belly and doesn’t roll to her back (she rarely does it when playing) so she’s stuck there until we flip her.

Typical schedule is 2/2.15/2.25/2.30
When we go out for outings, the gym or to run errands, she sometimes has a 3hr ww without fussing as she’s super curious.
Wakes up 6:30/7am (sometimes 6) and bedtime 8pm but this varies based on timing of last nap.
First nap always in the crib - can last anywhere from 30 min to 2 hours. If first nap is 30 min, we’ll contact nap the second nap to hopefully get a longer stretch in. Last nap is 30 min max.
Naps are capped at 2h. And we try to not go over 3.5h total.
