Maharaja Fateh Bahadur Shahi — One of India’s Earliest Revolutionaries
Maharaja Fateh Bahadur Shahi of Husseypur was one of the earliest sustained armed opponents of the East India Company. Beginning around 1767, he refused to accept Company revenue demands and fought them through prolonged resistance and guerrilla warfare.
His struggle continued for decades, making him an important early figure in India’s resistance to British expansion—long before the Revolt of 1857
