Hey everyone,

I'm looking to add an analog bus compressor/processor at the end of my chain to glue my Techno mix and finally make my hardware setup sound like a cohesive, massive wall of sound.

I'm currently torn between the FMR Audio RNLA and the OTO Machines BOUM (two very different philosophies). I'd love to get your insights based on my current routing and workflow.

My Starting Situation / Setup:

• Drums: Roland TR-8S (all my drums come from here).
• Synths & Textures: I have a huge Eurorack case packed with VCOs, FX modules, noise generators, etc. (https://cdn.modulargrid.net/img/racks/modulargrid\_2929670.jpg)
• Upstream Sidechain: I already use an Expert Sleepers Disting mk4 module (in stereo sidechain mode) triggered by my TR-8S kick to carve out space in the Eurorack every time the kick hits (production sidechain to keep the low-end clean).
• Mixer: Everything sums into a Yamaha MG12 console and a kaos pad 3 for dj style end of the chain filtering

My Questions:

1. RNLA or BOUM for this specific goal? The RNLA brings that classic smooth leveling and warmth, while the BOUM offers analog distortion and a high-cut filter that seems perfect for sealing noise and aggressive percussions together.
2. Kick Management: I know that compressing the kick on the master bus alongside everything else can kill the transients or cause uncontrolled pumping. Looking at the BOUM manual, I noticed its Lo Cut filter is placed after the compressor stage. Therefore, is it better to use Group 1-2 on my mixer to compress/saturate the entire mix (percs, noise, leads) except the kick, and then mix that compressed block with the clean kick directly on the ST Master?
3. Stacking Sidechains: If I go the BOUM-on-a-subgroup route, should I keep running my surgical sidechain upstream via the Disting mk4 on the Eurorack? Would the BOUM’s rear Sidechain Input even be useful in this scenario?

My ultimate goal is to achieve that "record-ready", organic, and heavy glue typical of hardware live acts without losing the transient punch of my TR-8S.

I need to vent my adrenaline somewhere because my hands are still shaking.

I’m no stranger to FromSoftware games. I platinumed Dark Souls 3 and all its DLCs, went toe-to-toe with Slave Knight Gael, and I cleared every single boss in Elden Ring and Shadow of the Erdtree. I thought I was prepared. I thought I knew what "hard" meant.

I was completely wrong.

Isshin, the Sword Saint took me 4 straight days and more than 15 hours of pure agony to finally beat. I was panicking, deflecting too early, getting absolutely wrecked by his phase 3 spear, and losing my mind. At one point, I genuinely thought I reached my limit and would never see the credits roll.

But today, I changed my mindset. Instead of chasing him and playing into his chaotic rhythm, I stood my ground. I stopped being greedy, stopped anticipating, and just let him come to me. I slowed down my reflexes, waited for his spear jumps, sent his lightning right back at his face, and finally broke his posture.

I got the "Severance" ending, and seeing wolf sitting at the temple at the end gave me chills.

What an absolute masterpiece of a game. No levels to farm, no summons to hide behind, just pure skill and memory muscle.
