Another school safety phone call…
Just received a call from a local school that a student made “threatening comments” on the bus, and other students were concerned.
The school investigated it and there is not a credible threat but just wanted to say—I’m proud of those students, and their parents for jumping into action. I know so many teenagers will say they don’t want to “narc” but after those weapons were found on kids at a school here not long ago, it’s so important to encourage everyone to report. See something, say something.
There has definitely been an uptick in violent acts/comments at the schools, and the worst thing is to find out something wasn’t taken care of when it should’ve been. Every threat is worth communicating.
As parents when we took a threat to administration, it was ignored. That child has definitely gone on to have major issues. I wish they could’ve gotten the help they deserved (when a kid is making pewpew threats, and their social media bio says “depressed” it feels like there’s something going on there, right?).
Anyways—shoutout to people taking things seriously for our kids safety. And please, if you’re a parent, teach your kids that making threatening comments about harming others at school is serious. Some kids just don’t get it these days.
