Opinion: Yes, stupid human behavior resulted in six bears being culled in Buncombe County

I really hate humans sometimes. Six bears in Haw Creek and Black Mountain, including a mother and yearlings. What frustrates me the most is reading the Biologist saying how they’ve been working in Black Mountain for over a year to get people to take down birdfeeders, secure their trash, and keep their doors and windows closed, and people just ignore the directions and continue with the irresponsible behavior that leads to dead bears. The bears in Asheville that had to be euthanized were in Haw Creek, with autopsies showing bellies full of birdseed. And as the article points out several times, problem bears can’t be relocated.

Seriously, the fireworks needs to stop

There is no reason for clusters of fireworks to be going off at 10pm on the 5TH of July. My pets just settled down after last night, yall need to put the mega-booms away.

1:47pm. Yes that's a guy with his full moon out. Him and his wife had a baby in the back that was not in a car seat. I'd imagine they are going to jail. Smh.

The coolest part of my weekend was witnessing this butterfly convergence at Bent Creek Experimental Forest with my daughter.

There were many other butterflies present - including the little purple ones that look like flying pieces of paper and giant, skittish yellow ones.

Would love more information on this behavior and the species. Some sort of swallowtail? I think the big yellow ones we saw were also probably swallowtails, but I really don’t know much about butterflies, just that these were beautiful and looked to be talking to each other.

Dentist Recommendations for Someone Without Dental Insurance and has Cavities

You read it. I can tell I have cavities in at least 3 of my back molars. I am also due for a cleaning (obviously). Any recommendations for a good dentist that won’t clean out my pockets as well as my mouth?

Anyone catch Isaiah Smiles bringing the after-party in the South Slope last night?

I love how this one extraordinary man gathered the multitudes for a huge spontaneous dance party in the street after the 4th of July fireworks. Light painting with the fireworks in South Slope last night.

I used the photo techniques of light painting and ICM (intentional camera movement) to make these. Very little editing - just light and color from the fireworks, streetlights, and headlights in South Slope last night.

Apologies if this is overly abstract. I tried to lead with the most normal of the set, lol.
