Fresh to the herpe gang
Hi everyone!
I’ve recently found out that I have genital herpes. For background info: my doctor didn’t do any kind of exam or bloodwork when I went to see her, she just wrote it in my file. I’m not “diagnosed,” by bloodwork or swab, she just went off of my symptoms. but, honestly, it could not have been anything else.
I was dating someone since January and had not been sexually active with anyone else other than him. I had my first outbreak on Easter of this year. I told my partner at the time what was going on and what I thought it was and he went to get tested. His bloodwork came back negative. I am unsure of where or how I contracted herpes as I did a full panel std check and pap in December, everything was good then.
Anyway, today he broke things off with me because it made him uncomfortable that I have herpes and he doesn’t. He thought he could see it through with me, but he said ultimately, he couldn’t. And I understand that.
I’m very sad and I guess I’m just looking for words of encouragement, or stories from others who can relate. I feel so hopeless.
