The music we hear in hotline miami 1 actually occurs because jacket listens to music on a walkman during his missions. Maybe it has some significance to him like it was beards or he gave it to him as a gift. I also could be recording segments of the music in his car to listen to in later missions.

I also like the headcanon that jacket grows a beard at some point in the story. I feel like him growing a beard would be like him holding onto his friend.
