Employer is being audited

Hi!

Throwaway account considering I don’t want my employer to see this.

My manager just informed me that an IRS agent would be at our store preforming an examination for anywhere from 1 to 3 days.

I work for a family owned jewelry store. (I’m not related, just an employee)

She said they would be here because we didn’t report some cash transactions over $10,000 and we weren’t getting social security numbers from people who were selling their gold to us.

I’m not sure of my rights/liabilities in this situation.

I’ve never had any BSA training. I imagine I wouldn’t have to speak to the auditor directly if they have any questions? I did buy gold from customers in store but I was trained by my manager and we wrote the transactions out on a paper form, nothing special but it worked for our in house bookkeeping.

I don’t believe my employer is committing fraud but I’m concerned about what could happen to me/my job.

Should I start looking for a new job chat? 😅

Sorry if this all seems trivial, I’m nervous even if it has nothing to do with me technically 😬

Thanks everyone!
