Am i cooked?

My 2025 transcript says there is no return filed but i filed through turbo tax but got the message it was accepted back on April 14th. I’ve never had this happen to me so I’m kind of worried. Any insight would help thanks.

Should also add it has been over a week since i verified my return from the notice they sent.

I need your help right away

Hi, I need your help. I filed my Form W-7 in March, and now I have to file Form 1065. But I don’t have an ITIN, and to make matters worse, last year was a shortened tax year. However, the business was inactive, so I don’t owe the IRS anything.

I thought I had to call in the last few weeks to get my ITIN, but it turns out I have to wait five weeks for it to be mailed to me.

All of this happened because, since I don’t live in the United States, I don’t have much information, and I thought I had to file the return in March, but I was busy. I know I made a mistake, so I’m asking for your help on what I can and should do.

I haven’t received any notification.

Weird letter from “The IRS”

I got a letter this week from what seems to be the IRS (Addresses and Numbers look legit) claiming they noticed they owe me some money from December of 2020, and to expect the check for it in the next ~7 weeks. I was suspicious, especially since they usually direct deposit my stuff, and went to check, and saw a very legitimate looking (matches previous information from the IRS) deposit in my account for a few hundred more than the letter claimed they owed. I plan on calling them when I get off work, but I’d like to know if there’s a precedent for a scam like this, or if they really make mistakes like this?

Update: ID’s expired so ID.me is on hold, but I checked my tax documents from that year, and the amounts match, so I’m listing towards Real.

Michigan Tax Return - What do I do?

I filed my Michigan tax return on February 20th through a large, professional tax firm (that I have used before without any issues). My tax return was supposed to be processed by April 15th, and I have received no correspondence from the Michigan Treasury. Online, it just says “pending review.” I cannot get through to Michigan Treasury on their phones—It is an automated voice system that says all lines are full and hangs up.

Is anyone else having the same issue (still)? And, anyone have any advice? I want my state tax return (after waiting 3 months). I already received my federal return.

Amended return. IRS weekly updates.

What day of the week does the IRS website update transcripts for Amended returns? Today is officially 5 weeks and I still have no codes reflecting they've received it. There is also no update on the WMAR tracker.

(I know it is 16 weeks from start to finish)

Retrieving assets from the IRS as an European

Trying to keep it brief but happy to provide more information if necessary.

My father had some equity in the US and died in 2005.

We found out in 2022 and tried to retrieve it but then stuff happened and the whole process and some family dispute happenend so it went under the radar.

The asset manager informed us that according to US law 3 years after finding out that the investor died the assets are deemed as "relinquished" and taken by the IRS.

The process of retrieving them is complicated but possible. They weren't able to provide more information.

I tried googling it but I sadly didn't find any helpful answers for my case.

Which is why I am asking if anybody has some general direction or process they can point out to me.

Hiring a lawyer is obviously an option but the amount is in the mid-high 5 digits so its in that weird zone where forgetting about the assets is not possible but a lawyer would drain almost half of the worth... the cash will also be split among 4 remaining family members which is why a lawyer might not even be worth it for the cash we try to retrieve.

Thanks for every advice :)

Older transcripts question

I recently filed taxes for 2019-2025 prior to the April 15th deadline. 2022-2025 resulted in refunds. I only had taxes owed for 2019 which I’m waiting for the IRS to process (mailed in) and then will pay. Likely it will come out of my refunds for 2022 and 2025 as they were significant refunds and my 2025 transcript shows refund held pending filing of older taxes.

Long story short, I can see transcripts for 2020, 2022-2025. I cannot see 2021 or 2019. Once they are processed by the IRS do you think they’ll start showing online? It’s weird that there is a gap.

I was able to call the IRS early last month and confirm that I only need to file from 2019 onwards.

Representative response received

IRS wanted a letter from my employer just saying the W2 is correct. Dumbest thing to request but of course I got the letter but don’t know how to get it to them. Anybody got a phone number I can actually get through? All I always get not matter what time of day I call is “we’re sorry and something about high call volumes and not being able to take my call.” I’ve tried 4 days in a row at ALL times of the day including when they immediately open

Refund

Hi - I need assistance. I made a mistake on my tax filiings and typed in the wrong routing number. Initially IRS website said "refund sent," and it's now backtracked to "return received."

I presume this is because of the wrong information. Does anyone know what happens now? The IRS webstie doesn't give any info at this point and calling them has been very unsuccessful/

FINALLY

After months of waiting I finally called the IRS. Seemed impossible to get an actual human on the phone, but saying "account management" immediately got me on hold to a representative. Took about 2 hours on hold and 100 questions later they finally told me they had sent out a 5071c but I never received it. Was put on hold for another hour to make an appointment at a TAC office to verify my identity. The only one available for an appointment was 3 hours away, but I honestly just wanted to get it over with. Was truly as simple as showing the agent my ID and giving him my direct deposit info (although when making an appointment they told me I needed 2025 return, 2024 return, 2 forms of ID, etc.) 2 days later my deposit was in my account, although tracker still just says approved. I definitely recommend calling if yours is delayed. Everyone I spoke to was very kind and helpful.

IRS tax lien on my property traveled from quitclaim deed

I’m in Pennsylvania and trying to understand the risk surrounding a quitclaim deed, an IRS lien tied to my ex.

Facts:
House was originally jointly owned by me and my ex purchased during marriage.

There is a mortgage still in place and foreclosure was filed recently, but no sheriff sale date yet. Because he was living there he agreed to pay the mortgage. He stopped paying and quit claimed the deed to me for nominal value and my plan is now to move in and pay the mortgage.

My ex signed a quitclaim deed transferring their interest to me, and it was recorded. I am in the process of paying the reinstatement fee to have the loan active again.

My ex still remains on the mortgage/note and we have no plans on removing them.

There is an IRS lien of about $65k tied to my ex that the IRS put a lien on the property.
The IRS lien have existed before the quitclaim deed filed this year. I’m trying to reinstate the mortgage and keep the property

My questions:

If I work out an installment agreement or settlement with the IRS, does that generally reduce the likelihood of the IRS caring about the quitclaim transfer? How can I workout a plan with the irs when debt it’s not under my name. I realize the lien is on the property but what are my options regarding that.

Since my ex no longer owns the property, would future IRS tax liens for new tax debt normally still attach to the house?
In practice, do IRS liens on primary residences usually just sit there until refinance/sale, or do people actually see forced sales often?

Please does anyone have any opinions as to what is going to happen?

Do any humans actually work at the IRS?

My mom owes back taxes because she was working full time until she loss the use of her legs. She can't possibly pay thousands of dollars when her only income is social security. We got a letter from the IRS saying to call them at 1 (800) 829-1040.

The problem is that no matter what option you choose it ends up transferring you to a line that hangs up on you because they have too many people calling and no one answering the phone.

She has gotten up at 6am to try and get in line before the queue fills up for the last 3days and even calling in at 7am when they open she is told there is no one to take her call.

Did Trump fire everyone who works at the IRS and the media just isn't talking about it?

Are there any humans still working there or is it all A.I. now?

Has anyone received their taxes after receiving these codes for 2025?

Filed my taxes on the last day so I’m not sure if it has something to do with that. Also I worked 2 different jobs last year, my previous job sent me 2 W-2s one being a corrected one which I used to file. Not sure if that has anything to do with it also. I’ve never had any issues filing, just inquiring about whether or not anyone had received these codes, what they mean, if you received your refund, if you had to do anything to fix it, also how long it took. I’ve been seeing nothing but horror stories so I’m kinda worried. I haven’t received anything in the mail yet.

I owe MD taxes from 21 years ago! Help!

I honestly didn’t know I had this debt until last year when I tried to renew my drivers license. I hope I explain this correctly because I still don’t even understand what is going on and even a tax lawyer couldn’t help me out.

I sold a stock my grandfather gave me and was taxed because it was a gift. I was a new teacher and didn’t even make as much money as I was taxed that year. I paid the down payment so I could get my drivers license. We sold our home last spring and I was under the assumption that my debt was paid to the state. Fast forward to now, I am trying to renew my tags and again, this nightmare tax flag has come up once again. When I contacted the comptroller they told me I owe from 2005- $29,000. I can get my tags renewed if I pay a down payment of 2,900$. I’m a teacher and I have two children in college. This is so much money!

Why wouldn’t I have heard about this 20 years ago? I’ve had several cars, tags, and renewed my license at least one other time. Is there anything else I can do?

Please don’t be harsh. I am not naive or ignorant. I did not know I had this debt until last year.
