Could pelvic floor dysfunction cause these symptoms? (burning + pelvic discomfort with negative UTI tests)

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to figure out if pelvic floor dysfunction could explain what I’ve been experiencing.

For the past couple of months, I’ve had recurring symptoms that feel urinary/pelvic in nature, including:
mild burning/irritation in the urethra (comes and goes, not constant)
deep lower pelvic discomfort or aching
occasional lower back discomfort
symptoms sometimes feel worse after peeing, but not always.

A few important details:
I’ve had multiple urine tests for UTIs, all negative
symptoms fluctuate day to day (not steadily worsening)

I’ve noticed some possible connection with my cycle (especially between ovulation and period)
stress seems to make me more aware of it, but I’m not sure if it’s contributing physically or just mentally
I’ve been reading about pelvic floor dysfunction and wondered if this kind of “burning/urinary irritation + pelvic discomfort with negative tests” fits that pattern.

If anyone here has experienced pelvic floor issues, does this sound familiar to you? And if so, what did it feel like for you in the beginning?
I’m trying to understand whether this is something worth specifically asking my provider about.
Thank you so much.

Recurring UTI-like symptoms but multiple negative tests — anyone else experience this?

Hi everyone,

I’ve been dealing with something for a while and I’m trying to understand if anyone else has had a similar experience.

For the past couple of months, I’ve been getting recurring symptoms that feel like a UTI, including:
mild burning/irritation in the urethra (comes and goes)
occasional lower abdominal or pelvic discomfort
sometimes a slightly “raw” or irritated feeling after peeing

The confusing part is that:
I’ve been tested multiple times for UTIs
all urine tests have come back negative
symptoms fluctuate and are not consistently getting worse. It also seems to sometimes line up with my cycle (around ovulation or between periods), but not always.

I’m trying to figure out what this could be because it’s been really stressful not having answers. Has anyone experienced something similar where it felt like a UTI but kept testing negative?
If so, what ended up being the cause for you (bladder irritation, pelvic floor issues, hormonal changes, etc.)?

Thank you so much in advance, I really appreciate any insight.
