I’m into digital marketing and I’ve worked with exporters/businesses in the past, have learned a couple of things about the overall landscape.

One thing I’ve noticed while working with exporters, a lot of you already have good products, certifications, and experience but still struggle with getting discovered by international buyers.

I want to work closely with 40-45 exporters (for free initially) and help them improve their digital presence - website, LinkedIn, content, positioning, and overall trust factor. I’m doing this to test what actually works for exporters, understand different industries better.

Looking for exporters who:
• Already have their business/product setup
• Are currently exporting or seriously planning to export
• Want to reach more international buyers
• Are open to experimenting and sharing feedback

That was the hardest part for me. Curious to know how did you guys your first lead? Was it Alibaba, trade fairs, referrals, linked in or something else? Would love to hear real first lead stories.

I've been speaking with a number of exporters recently, and one thing keeps coming up.

Most buyer inquiries still come from referrals, trade fairs, existing relationships, and B2B marketplaces. Which makes sense those channels have worked for years.

But I've also noticed that before reaching out, many buyers now do their homework online.

They check the company's website.

They look at the founder's or company's LinkedIn profile.

They Google the business.

They try to understand whether the supplier is credible, established, and capable of handling their requirements.

What's interesting is that the exporters receiving consistent inbound inquiries often aren't the ones spending the most on marketing.

They simply make it easy for buyers to find them and trust them.

A clear website. A professional LinkedIn presence. Good Google visibility. Consistent positioning.

Personally, I think many exporters underestimate how much buying decisions are influenced before the first email is ever sent.
