I am currently in Japan, and after hearing the news in the early hours of the morning that we had been expelled from the play offs a few days ago, I was very disappointed and embarrassed. My fiancé and I went out to a bar and the bartender, who was Aussie, asked where we were from. I said Southampton and he replied, “bad day to be a Southampton fan!” The sphere of embarrassment goes all the way to Japan it seems. I thought I could get away with forgetting it all and having a few drinks, but no, it follows you round anywhere you go. At least people won’t bring up the 9-0 anymore…
