passed the Tax Knowledge Assessment....now what?

I'm an accounting major entering my final term for my Bachelors desperate to find an accounting job. I just took and passed the TKA but it doesn't provide any next steps in the hiring process. Do I just start spamming apps to regional offices?

I'm located in Chicago.

Passed C237 - Taxation 1 in four days

Before starting to study I took the PA cold and Failed (took one hour), watched the videos and took notes (about 8 hours total), took the PA again and Passed (another hour), did a final review (~4 hours), and Passed the OA in 2 hours. So 16 hours over 4 days spent on this course.

Not a horribly hard course, but probably needs an update for 2026 and beyond because all of the info on this subreddit is a bit outdated.

For one thing, Elin Meyer's videos alone are probably not sufficient to pass the OA on their own anymore. You should have all of the Tax Credits and Itemized Deductions memorized, their dollar amounts and/or applicable percentages of AGI, and I would recommend reading the entire text for Topics 1 and 7 because there was a lot of questions about the structure of the US Tax System and IRS regulations that could only be answered from rote memorization.

(If any WGU faculty are reading this, it's about time you update this course's content. We should not have to use material dating back to 2023 in a presentation format different from the rest of the core accounting classes so far)
