Can the WGU MAcc (Financial Reporting) Be Completed in One Term?

I completed 16 WGU accounting courses in one term while working full-time. I work Monday through Thursday, so I have Friday through Sunday to dedicate almost entirely to school, which is how I was able to accelerate my bachelor's.

I'm now considering the MAcc (Financial Reporting specialization) and was wondering how realistic it is to finish it in one term as well.

My thinking is that, with my employer reimbursing tuition, I'd pay about $5,000, and since the program includes UWorld CPA Review, it feels like I'm essentially getting a master's degree for around $3,000 after factoring in what I would've spent on UWorld anyway.

For anyone who's completed the MAcc—whether in one term or longer—what was your experience? Was it noticeably harder than the bachelor's? Based on my schedule, do you think one term is a realistic goal, or am I underestimating the workload?

I'd love to hear your thoughts before I commit.

CPA Core Classes

Hello,

I have a bachelors in finance and an MBA with emphasis in Financial accounting analysis. I’m not currently CPA eligible in my state due to missing 5 classes. Does anyone know if i would be able to pick and choose classes to satisfy my CPA requirements or would WGU try to force me through a full accounting degree?

How do I know if I’m ready to take the D217 OA?

I’ve read here that the PA doesn’t really align with the OA, so how can I gauge if I’m ready for the OA or not? Does it mirror the chapter quizzes more than the PA? I’ve read a lot of doom and gloom about this course on here, so just curious for anyone who has passed - did you feel fully prepared before you passed the OA?

I graduated from the BS in Accounting in April. 500+ applications later, the best job I could get was a $19 an hour customer service representative job.

I don’t know if I should just give up on accounting. I can’t get any job that is even somewhat related to accounting. Bookkeeping, accounts receivable, payroll clerk, etc. You name it, I can’t get it. I’ve even applied to accounting internships and I can’t even get those. I either get rejection emails or I don’t hear back. I feel like I wasted my time.

Is D103 OA1 much harder than PA?

Hey, about to tackle the first D103 OA. For anyone that's taken it, is it significantly more challenging than the PA or about the same? I did pretty well on that (although there wasn't a score provided).

I’ll be starting WGU August 1st. I have no prior college experience. I have military logistics experience and warehouse experience. What should I do while in school to solidify a good start in accounting?

Hi guys. I’m seeing quite a few posts on new accountants with no experience struggling with finding a starting position to gain experience. I am 26 years old. I live in WA (1 hour from Seattle). I have no family and my work history is as followed. I did the army national guard from 2017-2023 as a logistic specialist (handling supplies and equipment. While in the Army I’ve worked warehouse jobs on the civilian side. I’m forklift, rico, and crane certified (none which really help me in the accountant career lol). Right now I’m working at cardinal glass ( I help form and ship out industrial windows). With my current schedule I get off at 3pm and have Friday- Sunday off. My question to you guys is this what should I did while in school to give myself a good chance at getting into the accounting career and how should I navigate myself through college? I have no kids also.

TLDR: Once I start school August 1st what’s the best way to go about getting a solid start in accounting when you have no experience?

Failed D104 OA2

I reviewed extensively, and this is the first time I’ve failed an accounting OA. I’m frustrated and waiting to hear back from the professor, but I’m feeling so discouraged and just needed to vent. I really, really thought I did better.

How many of you did ace credits?

I’m specifically curious of people in the state of GA. I know some states allow ace credits for the CPA and that some don’t.

Those of you with ace credits do you think it’s worth doing ace credits to finish your degree quicker or do you think I should just take them at WGU?

Thanks in advance!

Im so sick of this test having questions that dont even make sense when I do everything the instructors tell me to do.

On to my third attempt. Yippe.

Errors in D102 module quiz?

I'm not sure if I'm reading the question incorrectly, but I'm pretty sure the two sentences that I circled contradict each other. Can someone explain this? The question following this one with a similar format also said that a company receiving cash in advance for rent recorded it as a liability, yet the answer that I chose (which was correct) was a corresponding entry of credit to rent revenue. It's either I'm not understanding the material or there were some errors in this quiz.

Did you start your first job post degree and have a clue what you were doing?

I will be applying towards the end of this term for myself, and I have zero accounting experience.

I am understand the courses for the most part, but when it comes to an actual job I have no clue what to expect.

Did you start your first job post degree and feel like this degree prepared you, or were you lost?

D104 Course Resource Videos Missing??

Is it just me or did the course videos disappear overnight? I tried to click on one of the links on the word document and kept getting an access denied screen. When I click on the hyperlink for additional resources on Connect, it takes me to SharePoint of basically everything already on the Connect group and the lecture videos are nowhere to be found😬

Hi those who are enrolled into this program what would you recommend to put on your resume if you’re not finished with all your classes but looking to apply to entry level jobs with no experience ?

WGU Accounting grads. What were your starting salaries?

I’m mainly curious of those of you who didn’t have any prior experience.

What’d you start out at? And what was your title?

Please make sure to include you col!

Thank you!

40k a year for accounting assistant?

Looking for insight!!!!

I’ve applied to nearly 400 jobs since January and finally landed one two weeks ago for an accounting assistant for 40k!!!
I feel like this is BEYOND low but I really had no choice unfortunately….
I graduate this month with my bachelors in accounting.
I had an accounting internship last year for four months.

Is this much difficulty finding a job normal?
Is this pay normal?

I work in west Miami Florida.

Finally done!!!!

YOU GUYS IM FINALLY DONE!!!!! I’m so glad that this is done but I really just wanted to say don’t worry about getting a job after graduation.

Take what I say with a grain of salt because this is a horrible job market and I have some experience.

1st have a signed offer letter with a big 4 form and I start in October.

I was looking for a second job in the mean time so from I think I’ve put in 60 applications and I have/had 7 interviews. I am in round 3 for one of them. I don’t see any issue with recruiters questioning my degree.
