28 years old with a family looking to pursue accounting!
Hello! I'm sure posts get made like this a lot so I'm sorry for redundancy, but just curious for personal opinions on my situation still! I'm 28 years old in the Seattle market currently working a union customer service job managing pension accounts making $29 an hour with a wife and a 3 year old with plans for more. I'm wanting to pursue accounting with the goal of long-term stability with reliable income. My concern is should I stick out working where I'm at and pursue bachelors and get the needed credits for cpa or should I try to get a job entry level within ap/ar or similar and gain experience while I'm working? My concern is money and I don't know if me not working an entry level role is going to hinder my ability to land internships or jobs post degree. I will be looking to get QuickBooks and Excel certs under my belt in general though to show I'm trying to pivot for future jobs.
Thank you for anyone's opinion and advice
