Tribute to René Magritte
He is my favourite surreal artist and this was my way of trying to pay tribute to him. I don't remember how I got the water effect, NIK Plugins? Shot Sept. 2010 Converted Nikon D70 720nm

Not one of my best but it always gave me a very unsettled, creepy vibe. Yes, the sky was a drop in from Apophysis. Converted Nikon D70 720 nm
Hey everyone. I moved to Florida from the Boston area about four years ago and I’m finding it tough to make real connections here. I’m a bit shy and have been feeling pretty isolated lately, so I’m looking for a "buddy" to talk to and break up the silence.
I’m a bit of a mix of interests: I’m a lifelong metalhead (grew up in the 80s scene) and even played guitar in a band in my 20s. I also have a deep love for the blues and house music. I’m a long-time fiction writer and I’ve recently been getting back into watercolour painting. I’ve dabbled in calligraphy (Spencerian script) as well. I’ve been with my partner for 25 years. We are currently going through a very difficult health battle, so the stress at home is high. I’m really looking for a friend who can be a bit of an escape from that—someone to talk about art, music, or just life. I know I can be a little "odd" and introverted, but I’m a decent, loyal guy once the ice is broken. If you're into creative outlets, old-school metal, or just want to chat with someone who appreciates a good conversation, I’d love to hear from you.
How many started with IR in the film days? I don't remember what year it was, somewhere around 1999, I know it was pre 9/11, I started but it was with Kodak HIE b/w film that I had to learn to process myself. Fun days but I wanted positive criticism to get better at it and found some forum - this was the VERY early days of the WWW. Wherever I posted I, I got mostly negative comments along the lines of "You ruined an otherwise nice image with that gimmicky IR."
It didn't deter me, I kept on shooting but in retrospect I've often wondered if that was largely due to how difficult it was with film. We never knew what we'd get, if anything, until we developed it, it took time, and you had to learn to process the film yourself. THAT was a feat in itself because the IR film lacked the anti-halation backing which made it brittle and you could tear it easily loading it on to the developing reel. It was very interesting sitting in a pitch black closet, with a light blocking back where you unloaded the film to load onto the reel so you were doing all of this blind to avoid fogging the film if any light hit it. LOL Those were the days.
Now that digital has given it a much wider audience, I've often wondered if those who slammed me now shoot digital IR.
I was just curious if anybody else had encountered negative reaction to it pre-digital.
A lot of my family is buried at this cemetery and it has a lot of great photo ops. Sadly I'm all the way down the frickin' E. Coast now. Always loved this tree. Converted Nikon D70 720 nm
Is this allowed? A healthy leaf from a weed plant I grew over a decade ago. Converted Nikon D70, 720nm
