Made Dakgalbi at home for the first time

Made Dakgalbi at home for the first time

Hey everyone!

I finally tried making Dakgalbi at home for the first time, and I am absolutely blown away.

I browsed through a lot of threads here before cooking, and I made sure to follow some advices:
- Soaked the chicken thighs in milk first
- Added a tiny pinch of Korean curry powder to the marinade
- Let it marinate for a full 24 hours
- Did the classic mozzarella "cheese river" in the middle.

It turned out so flavorful and perfectly spicy. The sweet potato texture was amazing. I didn’t add tteok because, well I finished 😅 And yes, of course, I saved some sauce at the end to make the legendary fried rice 😂🤗

Any other tips for next time?

How did you first get into Korean food? (Former K-food shop owner, now writing about it)

For a while I ran a small online shop selling Korean ingredients, snacks and drinks, and these days I write about Korean food and culture for Italian readers.

Running the shop taught me that everyone arrives at Korean food through a different door. Some of my customers found it through K-dramas and some others through a BTS collab snack or coffee.

So I'm genuinely curious: how did you first come across Korean food? Was it a specific dish, a person, a trip, a show? And what was the moment it went from "interesting" to "I need this in my life"?

Who is getting ready for Chuseok?
Which is your fav traditional food?

I’m trying to write an essay about it so any advice is really appreciated 🤗
