Can someone pretty well educated in vitiligo explain the relationship between weight & vitiligo?

⚠️NSFW content: I've had vitiligo pretty much all of my life, but I've really been monitoring it through pictures for the past 6 years. In the peak of my weight (bmi 31.9) my vitiligo was the worst. However in my lowest adult weight (bmi 26.4), most of it repigmented. I since gained ~20 pounds back, and former vitiligo spots have resurfaced, not fully to when I was heaviest, but for the most part.

For context, I've only experienced vitiligo on my anal area (which did repigment when I lost weight) and my perineum (which has never fully repigmented, just a smidge. That area is very hard to budge). So no pics will be provided bc im not that kind of redditor

The only explanation seems to be that physical stress on the body lessened, because I went through my old pictures and I was still eating sugar and dairy (the things recommended to cut out). But is there something else I'm missing? I find this really interesting
