Jeep phantom braking activated ABS in high way and I can not stop the car
I’ve experienced several incidents of sudden emergency braking with my Jeep on the highway, but today was especially serious. While driving at highway speed, the vehicle suddenly slammed on the brakes and the ABS activated by itself. Right after that, the brakes basically failed — the brake pedal became extremely hard and I could barely press it down.
I was approaching an intersection when the light turned yellow. I tried to brake, but the car would not stop properly. I ended up barely making it through as the light turned red, then shifted into neutral and slowly coasted to the side of the road. It was an extremely dangerous. My whole family was in the car, including two young children. If there had been stopped traffic or a red light ahead, the consequences could have been catastrophic. The vehicle was basically impossible to stop because the brake pedal became too stiff to press.
Has this ever happened to anyone? I have a 2021 Jeep GCL limited.
