Today’s FAD observation

My new MY AWD FSD v14.2.2.5. Just hit 315 miles, so I’m a newbie.

I was FSD supervising on the way to the supermarket early this morning and it told me to tug on the steering wheel. I was definitely paying attention, eyes front. So I grabbed the wheel and gave it a tug. FSD turned off. I put it back on, same thing happened again.

Got to the store, parked and I asked Grok why the car did that and Grok told me the cabin camera probably thought I was either not paying attention or my hands weren’t on the wheel. I asked grok, do I need to have my hands on the wheel and she told me I needed to be ready to grab the wheel if necessary and the camera may have thought I wasn’t.

Then it occurred to me, I put the sun visor down because it was 6:45 am and the sun was in my eyes.

I’m guessing that the sun visor was partially blocking the camera view of my hands, because I always FSD supervise with my hands on my thighs, ready to grab the wheel in an instant if necessary.

Any thoughts?

My new MY - 3 days old and already FSD caused damage.

I've got 282 miles on my new MY Premium. HW 4.0, FSD v14.2.2.5. About 70% of it has been using FSD and I love it! Until this afternoon. I was taking a friend for a ride, to show it off. When we returned to his house, the car parked in front of the house and scrapped the front passengers tire into the curb. The tower has a divot ripped out of the sidewall, and the wheel is scraped up. I know that first parking lot ding hurts the most with a new car, but it's less than 4 days old.

I understand it's SUPERVISED FSD, but as the car decides to move an inch closer to the curb than there's room, there's no way I could have stopped it. I was paying attention, eyes were on the road. There's no way for a driver to look out the passenger's side window to see what the wheels are doing. Until the instant that it hit the curb, FSD appeared to be doing fine, as it has done for the 4 days I've owned it.

Is this what FSD is going to be like? I cringe at what it's going to do when I try to parallel park it. I guess the $16/month for tire & wheel coverage is going to be a necessity if I'm going to use FSD.

Anyone have any thoughts, other than to blame me?
