Beware of this Rapido cab scam on Dwarka Expressway routes
I had a really bad experience with a Rapido cab driver while travelling via Gurgaon to downtown, and I wanted to share it so others stay careful.
Before starting the ride, I clearly confirmed with the driver that he would take the Dwarka Expressway route. He agreed. The fare shown on the Rapido app was around ₹700+ and obviously included toll charges as per the route shown on the app.
But once the ride started, the driver suddenly changed his statement and said he would not take the expressway. Instead, he took some shady internal village roads just to avoid paying toll tax himself. When I questioned him, he became aggressive and even threatened to leave me on the road if I argued further.
At the end of the trip, he still demanded the same ₹700+ amount shown at the start of the ride. Since I was already disturbed by the whole experience, I paid without checking the final bill properly.
Later, after contacting Rapido support and sharing screenshots, I found out that Rapido’s fare system had actually reduced the fare automatically because the driver took a different shorter route and did not cross the toll at all. Meaning: the driver knowingly took extra money from me.
Thankfully, Rapido refunded the extra amount after I raised the complaint, but honestly the experience felt unsafe and extremely unprofessional. I have also requested them to take strict action against the driver.
Posting this here so people stay alert:
- Always check the FINAL bill amount before paying.
- Don’t assume the starting fare remains the same if the route changes.
- If a driver changes routes without consent, report it immediately.
- Avoid paying directly without verifying the updated amount on the app.
Has anyone else in Gurgaon faced something similar with Rapido/Ola/Uber drivers lately?
