My girlfriend birthday is coming in the second week of September, and I want to plan something really special for her birthday.

Budget isn’t really an issue, and I’m open to pretty much anything — a memorable gift, a luxury stay, a romantic getaway somewhere in India, an experience, or even a combination of everything.

I’d love to hear your best recommendations. If you’ve done something for your partner that was genuinely memorable, what did you plan?

Basically, if you had a good budget and wanted to make your girlfriend’s birthday unforgettable, what would you do?

I work from home for a US-based company and yesterday was literally like any other day. Everything was normal until around 9 PM when I got a call from HR.

I joined the call thinking it was probably something routine. Instead, I was told that they had made the decision to eliminate my role as part of an internal organisational restructuring. I was also told it wasn’t performance related.

I was the only person from India on the engineering team, so there wasn't anyone else from my team being laid off. It was just me.

The whole conversation probably lasted only a few minutes, but it completely threw me off. No prior intimation, no time to prepare, nothing that made me think this was coming.

I've never been laid off before and honestly, it just fucking sucks.

I know layoffs happen and I know it isn't necessarily a reflection of my work, but that doesn't make it any easier to process.

Right now I'm just trying to figure out what comes next updating my resume, applying, preparing for interviews and hoping I land somewhere good.

If you've been through a layoff before, I'd genuinely appreciate hearing how you dealt with it.

I report to the head of marketing right now. But due to company restructuring they are planning to hire a senior marketing manager and I will need to report to him. This means all my decision making goes and over that I won’t be a part of any big meetings which right now I’m leading. There are other managers in the team but they will be reporting to the head of marketing as usual. Also all male managers. I am the only female manager in the team. But only for me and one more person (who they will hire) the “reporting structure has changed”

Exercise extreme caution before renting Property A-223, Sushant Lok Phase 1, Sector 28 (Near MG Road Metro Station), currently listed as a NoBroker/CPMS property or directly via 99acres and Housing.com.

My security deposit was hit with arbitrary deductions despite leaving the property in pristine condition (I deep-cleaned the entire 1RK and have 100+ images/videos of the cleaned apartment):

🛑 The Impossible Timeline: Billed using an appliance repair estimate explicitly dated two full days before I even surrendered possession. A forged-style bill was created to replace an entire fridge door for ~₹4,500 due to a small dent I didn't even cause, plus ~₹1,000 for AC foam-jet service post-move-out

🛑 Fabricated Dust Charges & Bed Dismantling: They physically dismantled the bed floor specifically to dig out and showcase minor dust, using it as an excuse to levy extra, unjustified cleaning fees.

🛑 Unverified Fridge Charge (~₹4,500): Charged ~₹4,500 for a tiny, pre-existing dent that was never flagged or recorded during the official NoBroker joint move-out inspection.

🛑 Owner's AC Maintenance (~₹1,000): Billed ~₹1,000 for a structural "Foam-Jet" chemical AC deep-cleaning, which is legally the property owner's financial liability, not the departing tenant's.

Advice for renters: Always take a continuous video of every appliance, and demand 100% deposit clearance before handing over the keys. Protect yourselves!

Just wanted to check with people living in a housing development in Dwarka Expressway. We know that this area has attracted many people from the point of view of investment opportunities in real estate. But my question is from someone who has been living there and experienced the life of the area during all circumstances. We know that the monsoon rains wreaks havoc in many parts of Gurgaon year after year. There seems to be no sign of any improvement in water logging in Gurgaon from the authorities. I have been advised to be careful about property buying in and moving to Dwarka Expressway area where reputable builders have taken advantage of property boom in the market recently. My concern is about the infrastructure of Dwarka Expressway in view of Haryana government’s inability to provide good infrastructure to Gurgaon and perhaps Dwarka Expressway is not going to be any different . If someone has been planning to move to live there permanently is it really worth exploring the options?

So we went shopping at factory outlets near Sector 14. The ones where you have Nike, Adidas and the rest in one row. Wife, me and our 6-year-old.

I parked in front of the Adidas store and went shopping. Midway through, the kid needed to pee. Adidas had a staff washroom, but the little guy took one look and decided, that he’d rather hold it.

We were anyway heading for lunch after, so we decided to wrap up quickly and head to a nearby restaurant. Except… someone had parked a Thar directly behind my car, handbrake on, blocking both my car and the one next to me. No way out. So I waited.

Then I had a hunch - I saw four young looking guys trying shoes inside Adidas. I went in and asked one of them... bingo.... It was their Thar.

One of them said he’d quickly move it. Cool.

Then another one decided: “No, we’ll finish shopping first. Then we’ll move it.”

I thought he was joking and I was like "HA HA, funny". And GUESS WHAT, HE WAS NOT JOKING.

That was the point where my patience ran out.

I got a bit angry. Not physical, but definitely loud. I told them that, first of all, they simply shouldn’t be blocking someone’s car like that. I also complained to the Adidas staff, who were apologetic and offered to help.

But this guy was - "isne bhi to road side gaadi lagayi hai, iski bhi utni hi galti hai".

I said: "rre bhai, maine kisi ki gaadi to nahi block ki"

Him: "ab toh hum billing ke baad hi jayenge, road ke side su su kara de ladke ko"

Now here’s where the story gets interesting. A couple of other people who had gathered around also told them, “Guys, just move the car.” And their response?

“What will you do? Can’t you see there are four of us? You can even bring eight like you and you still won’t be able to handle us.”

CAN YOU F***ING believe it? I genuinely didn’t know whether to be angry or amazed.

Forget the Thar. Forget the parking. The truly baffling part was the mindset... and then we just waited for another 10 mins.

Edit:

TL;DR: Four guys blocked my car with their Thar, refused to move it until they finished shopping, and when asked by others to move it, responded with: “What will you guys do? We’re four!”

PS: wife told me not to involve the police, the issue seemed a bit petty. Also, last time a situation with police didn't go well for us.
