trying to get volunteer hrs feels impossible

Hi! I’ve been trying to get volunteer hours for the past year. I applied to six hospitals and have been cold calling where they say that the applicants are too full. I could join the waitlist and I have been emailed months later with a denial from the hospitals where I submitted a formal application. I am so busy with the last pre-Recs I don’t know if I will have time to get a CNA license, but I feel like that’s my only option even though it’s gonna cost a lot of money. I feel like it’s really competitive here in California for nursing school and to even be able to volunteer in a hospital. I really am not sure what I’m doing wrong but I keep applying and applying and I feel defeated. Is there another source where I could get volunteer hours in which a nursing school may approve of and appreciate? Even the hospice is denying me. I signed up for a program where I have to pay to get volunteer hours, isn’t that insane. Is that my last option
