Wrote an uplifting track for anyone burned out by dating apps: "Player Two"

After exploring the frustrations of modern dating in my last track, I wanted to write something on the opposite side of the coin—a reminder that getting ghosted or feeling exhausted by the apps doesn't mean you're meant to lose.

"Player Two" is about taking the pressure off the leaderboard, giving yourself time to heal, and remembering that you don't need a hundred matches—just one person who actually chooses you and stays.

🎧 Listen here:SoundCloud – Player Two

Would love to hear your thoughts on the cadence, message, and overall feel!

I put the modern dating app burnout into a song: "Still Matchmaking"

Wrote and produced a track about what dating apps feel like lately—empty lobbies, bots, monetized features, and everyone carrying old save files into new conversations.

🎧 Listen here:SoundCloud – Still Matchmaking

Curious to hear what you all think of the lyrics and overall vibe.

I got tired of predatory dating apps and paywalled matches, so I've been designing a free, community-first alternative. Looking for honest feedback.

Hey everyone,

Like most people, I am completely exhausted by the state of modern dating apps. They've turned into slot machines engineered to extract $30/month for basic features, hide matches behind blurs, throttle discovery with algorithms, and let inboxes drown in low-effort bot spam.

I’ve been designing a free dating platform focused on intentionality, fair exposure, and safety. Here is the core direction:

  • No Swipe Deck + Reddit-Style Manifesto: No mindless card-swiping. Profiles require a mandatory long-form bio (150–1,500 characters) covering who you are, your routine, and non-negotiables. You like and leave inline replies on specific sentences or prompts (like Hinge, but deeper).
  • In-App "Date Proposal" Form: Instead of getting stuck in 3-week dead-end texting loops, either user can send a structured date card (suggesting a public venue, activity, and time window). Accepting it generates a shareable safety summary card (first name, verified badge status, venue, and date/time) that you can text to a friend before meeting up.
  • Anonymous 1-at-a-Time "Blind Dating": An opt-in mode that pairs you with one compatible local person at a time based solely on shared values, distance, and zero dealbreakers. Profiles remain hidden and only reveal once both people exchange 10+ messages each and mutually request a reveal, or when someone accepts a date proposal.
  • Fair-Share Visibility (No Paid Boosts): You get a curated daily deck of 15 profiles. There is no boost field or pay-to-win ranking. When other compatibility signals are equal, profiles that have received fewer impressions that day naturally rise to the top.
  • In-Chat Scam Alerts: Real-time client alerts flag suspicious keywords in the composer and incoming message bubbles (e.g., requests to move to WhatsApp, Telegram, or talk crypto/investments).
  • Free Posed Selfie Check & Device Binding: Verification is done via a direct front-camera capture with a randomized physical pose instruction (no gallery uploads). Native emulator scripts are blocked, and abusive spam accounts are permanently banned at the device level.

Future Sustainability & Support

Looking ahead, the long-term vision is to keep core matchmaking 100% free with no paywalls, paid boosts, or subscriptions.

As the platform scales and more users come online in the future, database activity, media delivery, and server traffic will inevitably generate real infrastructure costs down the road. The goal is to fund those operational expenses purely through community donations and voluntary support. To be completely candid about the future: if the community doesn't find value in supporting the servers down the road, it simply won't be possible to keep the platform running indefinitely.

Gauging Interest & Feedback

If this is something you'd actually want to use, let me know. If there's enough genuine interest, I'd love to organize a private testing group down the line to gather feedback and shape how it's built.

Questions for You:

  1. What is the single biggest pain point on current dating apps that makes you want to delete them?
  2. Does a 150-character mandatory bio minimum feel like a healthy filter against bots/low effort, or is it too much signup friction?
  3. What features would make you feel safest when planning to meet someone for the first time?

Appreciate any candid thoughts, roasts, or suggestions!

29 [M4F] SoCal / Inland Empire — Tired of dating apps, bots, and scams, so trying Reddit

I’ve used dating apps for a while and honestly I’m getting pretty tired of wondering if I’m talking to an actual person or a faceless ghosting bot. So I figured I’d give Reddit a shot and see what happens.

I’m 29, white, and a software engineer working completely remote. I’m around the Inland Empire/Ontario area, but I’m pretty flexible when it comes to driving around SoCal.

I’m pretty laid-back, affectionate, nerdy, and sarcastic/playful once you get to know me. I’m looking for someone genuine, kind, easygoing, and affectionate who actually wants to get to know each other and see where things go.

I’m a huge gamer and tech nerd, but I definitely enjoy getting out too. I love movies, going to the beach, random drives, exploring new places, grabbing food, walking around malls or outdoor markets, and just finding random things to do. I’m equally happy staying home, ordering something good, gaming, or watching a movie together.

I do have kids, and I’m currently going through a divorce from an emotionally abusive person. I don’t want to make either of those things the focus of this post, but I also don’t want to hide them. I’m happy to talk more about it once we actually get to know each other.

Ultimately, I’d like to find something genuine that could turn into a relationship if the connection is there. Physical affection is definitely one of my love languages — holding hands, cuddling, hugs, being close to someone, all that good stuff. I also really appreciate kind words and being able to openly show each other that we care.

I’m not looking to rush anything. Let’s talk, swap pictures, meet somewhere casual, and see if we actually vibe in person.

If you’re somewhere around SoCal and any of this sounds like your kind of person, send me a message. We can talk here or move over to Snap if you prefer.

Just please be a real human....
