I went to E.R after days of on and off lower abdominal cramping which eventually got worse, thinking maybe it was a flare. I could barely even sit upright without being in pain. Using the toilet felt like I was being stabbed and it was just not settling down.

After a bunch of tests including ultrasound, CT scan and bloods they came to the conclusion it was sigmoid diverticulitis. My CRP was 200, they could see many diverticula pouches in the sigmoid colon, wall thickening in sigmoid colon and also in my rectum (probably from the proctitis)

I ended up staying in for 5 days as they pumped me full of antibiotics and now I'm back home and on a low residue diet for 2 months. I'll be hopefully seeing my gastro Dr soon. Just seems like it's one thing after another sometimes!

Last week I went to the hospital with what I thought was a crohns flare up and it turned out to be sigmoid diverticulitis. I spent 5 days there and was pumped full of antibiotics, I'm home now and continuing on with the antibiotics and a low residue diet for 2 months. I'm only 36 and i just feel like it's unfair lol.

Anywho, if anyone has any interesting low fiber meal options I'm all ears!

..Or just any tips/things to look out for with managing SD

I'm sure many of us have been through it but what are we doing to redirect pinching? Mr 5yo (lvl 3, nonverbal) is going through a major pinching phase. He's pinching at home, pinching at school and sometimes there's no rhyme or reason to it. I can obviously tell by his sounds when he's upset and that he might pinch, but other times he can appear totally happy and still pinches. Unfortunately, with limited receptive language, the level of understanding isn't quite there. I still explain that we don't pinch but does anyone have any tips or tricks???

Recently I had some blood tests after an appt with my Rheum and my ferritin is at 27. It all makes sense now because I have been EXHAUSTED, along with regular headaches and other little niggly things. My iron is 14 which is in the ok range and my hemoglobin is fine. I'm hoping I can have an infusion because I don't tolerate oral supplements too well, but we shall see. I'm not sure if ferritin alone is enough to qualify.

I have crohns disease and have been on a wait-list to see the rheum for quite some time. I had my first appointment today and it was such a positive experience 😭 I was quite nervous about going but this Dr was amazing and listened to all of my concerns and she was honestly surprised that I have not been seen sooner!

I had the HLA-B27 blood test today and have booked in for an MRI which will be a bit of a wait but I just feel relieved that the ball is rolling. I had a previous X-ray which showed bilateral SI joint sclerosis and I experience flare ups of pain and now I might get some answers!!
