Thanks to the Capital Pride Alliance for the weekend celebrations

Before too much time has passed I just wanted to say thanks to the Capital Pride Alliance, all the volunteers, participants, sponsors and others who made last weekend’s PRIDE celebrations in DC a reality. And thanks to all the local businesses supporting our community and the celebrations! I also really enjoyed meeting a lot of new friends…

As someone who traveled from the deep South, the reality is the Wash DC LGBTQIA+ community knows how to put on a celebration & party! I thought last year’s WORLD PRIDE would be a tough act to follow, but this year’s celebrations were FABULOUS! Thanks so much! See you next year!

PS to the super cute twink in the line for TRADE one evening — thanks for the memory! It will be one that I’ll remember for sure! And I truly hope you found what you were looking for that evening!

Storytime: One night last week I was walking down 14th St. with a friend and there was a fairly long line to get into some business. I assume it was TRADE, but asked a cute twink in line to confirm. After confirming, before I even had time to say thanks, he added (with a hint of a smile) that this club has a maximum age, GRANDPA. (In fairness I am in my early 50s, and fit.) Anyway, I took this in the (humorous) manner I assumed it was intended, and quickly responded that I wasn’t planning to stop in, since I was sure there were not any hot twinks in there that night. Anyway, we continued walking as my friend and I had places to be, people to see.

The funny thing was the twink was super cute, and until he added the comment, “Grandpa” was going to spot him $100 for drinks for he and his friends, since I did not have time to go in an buy a round of drinks. But not after that comment! Anyway my friend had a great laugh as we walked on, and re-told that story many many times over the remaining days at various places (at my expense). I did try to get my friend as we were walking away to go back and at least spot him a few bucks for drinks for the great laugh (certainly my friend got a lot of laughs from retelling the story that it would have been worth it) — but he was not feeling charitable. Anyway maybe don’t pick on your elders, because good things come to those who wait! And thanks for the core memory — if for no other reason we’ll always remember that trip!
