Are YouTube Banner "Mobile Safe Zones" obsolete now

We all know the standard official guidelines for designing a YouTube banner:

2560x1440 for TV viewing (the whole canvas)

2560x423 for Desktop view

1546x423 for Mobile devices (the "absolute safe zone")

But after comparing multiple channels across devices, I don't think we need to worry about the mobile safe zone anymore.

Because modern phones have much wider screens now, the mobile app seems to display almost the exact same banner width as the desktop view. Nothing designed for the "desktop width" gets awkwardly cut off anymore.

It feels like we can just use the Desktop view (2560x423) as the actual safe zone, instead of cramming all our text and logos into that tiny 1546px box in the middle.

Has anyone else noticed this? Are you guys still strictly designing for the 1546px mobile zone, or is it finally a thing of the past? Let me know what you think!
