I've read on here that vinegar will make sticky mess clean up easier. I mix my starter in wide mouth mason jars, and there's always a bunch of sticky, gooey crud to clean up. Last night I put a few drops of dish soap in the jar, added maybe 1/4 c vinegar, and filled the rest with cold water. This morning, it was all dissolved!!! My husband is so happy haha. Try it!

I took a chance on a breeder r/thesmallfishstore from r/AquaSwap that didn't have a ton of activity. I chose this company because they had everything I wanted (red cherry culls, Amanos, Endler's) at good prices and weren't West Coast (I'm in NY). I also wanted to give a smaller business a shot. This is my first time ordering fish/shrimp online.
I have to say, I'm very happy with my purchase! Everything arrived live and active, and there was an extra Endler's thrown in! The little Endler's are gorgeous and happily swimming with my other Endler's.
There are probably extra shrimps too, but I had a hard time counting lol. The shrimp were all different sizes, which was unexpected but nice. Even though the cherry shrimp are culls, they all look good to me! One of the Amanos is huge; I'm calling it Grandpa lol.
Communication was prompt, no issues at all! Everything shipped out quickly overnight! (Overnight shipping is outrageous, but that is NOT the seller's fault, it's that way everywhere.)
Anyway, I recommend checking the Little Fish Store out.
Do any of you own police scanners to get info on emerging situations? If so, has it been useful? And any recommendations?
I am looking for an actual unit, not a phone app, to monitor the situation if things get dicey. I've heard lots of info can be had from not only police bands but EMS and school radio as well.
Hi all! I'm considering getting a police scanner to stay up on current emerging events. Can anyone tell me if local police bands are encrypted? Interested in Albany and Schenectady county.
Also if anybody has recommendations on scanners... looking for an actual device, not a phone app.

Edit to add u/vibes86 advice: "Please remember that these are NOT for foods that are perishable unless you’re putting them in the fridge or freezer. These do not make perishable items shelf stable. I use them for rice, pasta, sugar, etc."
